Missed playing Germany and I picked this game up with Jubjub a few hours after picking up the Soviet Game. Jubjub writings on the forum point to a very knowledgeable player so Hopefully I can at least give him a challenge. I do have to confess I am trying some things that are AD HOC musings of mine for the last two months thinking on the game.

From personal experience, I've found JubJub to be one the best Russian Players out there, including numerous games of WiTe.
Your in for a challenge!

Oh, I could tell from his conversations on the forum. But in WITE I don't ever recall a Jubjub so would have to have gone by a different name at least. I sux at this game so I am sure he will kick my butt :)

At least the Air War is going fairly decent so far. Pretty close to finishing movement so these numbers will be pretty close to end total.

BTW, I did not have a loss of a SINGLE bomber this 1st turn!!!

(I did the same thing in this game https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4993481 a few months ago, in that game I bombed with Hungarians and Rumanians too but in this game I did not)

I believe Stephan is referring to his games in WITE2. I didn't play a ton of the original.

Not going to bore everyone with another T1 write-up. I believe at this point the deposition of forces are pretty relevant of where they can go. I will jump into this AAR beginning with Turn 2.

Soviet Bombing

Soviet players love to do it. It has negligible effects for air-frames lost. Like this bombing pattern in the north. I can just circumvent the interdiction and use the roads to bypass these interdiction hexes with combat units. /shrug I will take the (10) unescorted Soviet bombers losses :)

Soviet Bombing in the South

Interdiction in the South, circled in orange, was better placed. But at the cost of 39 un-escorted bombers. To me it isn't worth it for the effects rendered. But hey only the Soviet player can answer that question themselves.

Circled in blue is the Soviet front line. I really don't have to recon here in the South so I won't. I am playing the South much different than all my other games. This is one of my "AD HOC musings" I had and playing it according to that musing. I hope it pans out the way I envisioned, time will tell.

Hmmmm, is Jubjub playing close in the center? Will have to set up a Recon directory to find out.

HQ's forgotten?

I just want to point out you can game the system by having your HQ displaced by German units and the leader has a high chance of getting killed in the displacement. Thus you could get a better or worse leader. I tested this before I left two months and the leader death from displacement was pretty high and don't know if this was looked at in the time I was gone. But I do hope Jubjub doesn't have good leaders in those HQ's because they could die too :(

If Jubjub displaced them from inside pockets to where they are now then in my opinion it would have been better to just leave them in the pocket.

Gulf of Riga

Gulf of Riga in Soviet hands easily. I guess it is time to bring up the Hungarians and Slovkians(I'm sure Bobo can fix my spelling on this) Fighters for some kills ;-P Maybe even some Rumanians.

Soviets lost

17 fighters and 13 bombers

Not too bad for the result of keeping ports shut

Turn 2 Real time analysis of Pskov

* The LIME circle Tank Division should be easy to move with a PZ with Flamm support. The lime infantry may take a PZ and moto but should be doable 2nd turn of the game in a lvl 2 fort.

* Whatever is in the RED circle area can make or break this whole thrust.

* Blue is 100% just a HQ. I recon'd pretty well so I should be seeing everything there is. Should be open field behind that this early in the game. I hope.

* The yellow X makes this defense prone to opening up. Main reason I am trying this.

Here goes nothing...

Turn 2 Real time update

Got to get rid of some minor blockers first. I want them to retreat to the NW and not NE. WITE2 is more random on the retreats so here is to hoping they don't go NE. X fingers.

P.S. I normally surround these and force surrender the next turn. But I am in a hurry here so they get the ax this turn, lol.

Front line on the river is weak as expected this early in the game. Shouldn't be a problem attacking both of these with FLAMM attached to the PZ division.

FIRST, I move a rgmt across the river to dictate the retreat paths(indicated) of the Armor and the Infantry. This is a must.

Turn 2

Had to think on things a bit and look at the map. I decide to bring up another PZ division, marked in light blue and break it down to the West of Pskov before making the attack. I make the attack and the Soviet Rifle division retreats marked in Orange.

Turn 2 (real time update)

Computer acting all funky and had to save and restart. Now back with the update.

Attack on the Soviet Armor division easily routed to the NE per the orange arrow.

NOW to the important question. What is in the RED circle in the Rough terrain? This could bog down real quick and I go center if there is a heavy pipe hitter there. We are about to find out....

Turn 2

Just an FYI if you don't know.

If you look at some of the snapshots and you see NO "?" or 0?0 on the counter it is because you have Y pushed in for the name of the units. Didn't know if everyone knew that or not but thought I would mention it here.

Turn 2 (real time update)

Tired of hiding the names & Jubjub will find out soon enough.

Ok, now to see if what I said was an HQ or not in the orginal recon picture. Going to go "balls deep" and bring up my PZ division with the most MP's and find out. If it is just a HQ I will then use 1 MOTO Rgmt to see if we can see what is in the RED circle.

Here goes...
