The requirement to rail the SR 5 planes from Eastern USA really slows down deployment because they take forever to come ready at SF.

That is interesting.

Are you using nothing but AKVs to transport them?

They fly from SF.

I suppose I could use AKV and go through the Canal, but that would take at least as long as rail plus reassembly.

You said some would appear at Eastern USA. Those are the ones I think could be sent via Aden.

To the Marianas Islands???

With the B-29 transfer range it is SF->PH->Guam.

Just move them one aircraft in a squadron when it repairs, disband the damaged ones into another squadron or even just a fragment, keep doing so. When those damaged aircraft get repaired, the fragment may join with the rest of the gaining squadron but the extra will go into reserves. Then move those reserve aircraft back to the depots, then issue them to the squadrons which at at the base you want them at. Assign aircrew as you want to.

I'm just moving the squadrons after a few planes are ready. The rest follow when ready. Is good. Me simple.

Thanks for the insight.

I personally am a fan of the AKV. Slower. Not sure if their best use though is ferrying the long legged squadrons though.

AKV's are great. Not a large number of them. Really good when you move into an area and need to set up fast, fighter cover, whatever.

Despite the risk of ops losses, I'm careful about seaborne transport of squadrons/airframes that are dear because of the risk of losses to submarines.

Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Chumphon

• Great results at Haiphong! Our units need recovery plus there is a small unit doing rearguard which must be dealt with. In addition, there are 5 enemy units in the jungle in front of Langson, and I think we will push east across the river to avoid the need for shock attacking into the jungle. Bad enough we already must shock attack again whenever we move on Hanoi.

• Fantastic results at Bangkok. Our troops are Disrupted, but will continue the assault to take advantage of the worse state of the enemy troops.

• The 2nd British Division will be back on line tomorrow at Chumphon.

• 509 AV will assault at Bien Hoa tomorrow.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

• Rain over Japan tomorrow; no B-29 strikes.

Congrats on taking Haiphong so quickly!
You can avoid the shock attack at Hanoi if you circle to the north of Hanoi and turn to Hanoi after you cross the river. Of course that will take more time, so it depends on your schedule and your tolerance for losses from a shock attack.

You really hit the TK/AO jackpot at CRB, and I think those annoying 'E' escorts are a sweet bonus to sink.

Yeah, that would be a long way around. I'm going to send most units east to cross the river peacefully and move on Langson through the jungle. The units now in Hanoi aren't worth much combat-wise so even recovered to some degree they can be handled by follow up forces later. The ones in the jungle across the river from Hanoi I just don't know about. Not sure if they have been weakened or are fresh and dangerous.

Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Chumphon

• Cracked the fort at Haiphong.

• Another big haul at Bangkok. Several of our infantry units are being taken off line due to high proportion of disabled squads.

• Bien Hoa is ours, but Saigon looks to have defenses too strong for our forces on scene.

• Good progress at Chumphon, one of the combat units has been destroyed. We hope to get the other two before they exit the hex and engage our road block.

• Phnom Penh is in revolt! Drat, we have garrison requirements to meet here and there.

• Our troops at Haiphong need to recover before moving on. There is already 1 enemy unit across the river to the east, so we will get the armor moving to cross the river as soon as possible.

• Additional forces have begun arriving at Hue with more shortly due.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

• Rain forecast for the Home Islands tomorrow. No B-29 strikes. When we get a good enough forecast there will be daylight strikes against Hamamatsu with fighters sweeps.

Great work all round! Your previous raids that wiped out so many supply ships are telling in Indo-China.

Continued Overcast forecast for Japan. Should I send the B-29's anyway or wait for better weather? 234 B-29's are ready.

I would send 2 squadrons to a target with little CAP just to keep him guessing. If you consistently avoid missions according to weather forecast he will be able to rest his fighter force too.

Send a couple of airstrikes- target an airfield or three! Or even a port!

Don't let him rest his aircraft on bad weather nights.

I get that, but I want to use the B-29's as effectively as practical. Don't want to keep wasting them on bad weather raids. Of course if the spate of bad weather continues, I'll have to anyway. I really want to get in that big daylight raid with fighters sweeps.
