Hi, some questions about engineers, construction & repair in the GC41... A) Playing as the Axis, I see these Support Units under the 4th Panzer Group: Engineer (1) - 62th Pioneer Battalion Construction (2) - 507th Road Construction Battalion - 508th Road Construction Battalion In the manual, different terms are used in different places: sometimes it talks about construction units, sometimes about engineers, sometimes about combat engineers, sometimes about construction engineers and (very rarely) even about Pioneers. 1) Are the Support Units under "Engineer" the combat engineers from the manual? 2) Do these "Engineer" SUs only help in reducing fort levels when attacking, but not in constructing/repairing (except building fortifications)? 3) Are the Support Units under "Construction" the construction engineers from the manual? 4) Do these "Construction" SUs only help in constructing/repairing (including building fortifications), but not in reducing fort levels when attacking? B) The manual gives the priority for assigning the Construction Engineers (priority factory repair > depot repair > Airbase construction/repair > non-priority factory repair). I understand that only units that are not assigned to any of those tasks are used in digging fortifications. But... 5/ Do construction units help in repairing ports? 6/ What is the priority of repairing ports? 7/ Will a construction engineer attached to a HQ only repair a depot in range where a unit commanded by that HQ is stationed? Or will it also repair depots in range without any units that the HQ commands? 8/ If there is one Construction Engineer attached to a HQ and that HQ has two depots to repair (let's assume both with a commanding unit on it), which will it repair? The closest? The one that is most damaged? Does supply priority plays a role? ... 9/ Idem for RAD units that are attached to HQs: What railroad hex will those RAD unit repair? The closest? The one that is most damaged? ... C) The RAD support units that are attached to FBDs pose an interesting efficiency dilemma: if you keep them assigned to the FBD, the FBD will have a higher RRV and thus be able to repair more rail that you select. But I notice that the FBD often runs out of movement points before it can use all repair points in a turn and so, the repair power of that RAD is wasted that turn. However, if they are assigned the RAD to a HQ, you can not control exactly where they will repair but they will be repairing almost every turn for the Axis. So... 10/ Do people generally keep the RADs attached to the FBD or do they put them on a HQ to help with repairs?
