I know it is probably just a wild dream.... but Id love a way to re-watch the whole match like when u see the summary of the enemy turn. Just all turns. Maybe even with a way to limit the time frame or jump to specific dates i.e. Start of Barbarossa or D-Day. And/or different speed settings.

Rewatching that with my buddy and discussing all the moves would be so awesome.
Is such a thing possible or does it maybe exist already?

The only way I can think of would be to use video recording software to record your PBEM replays, only recording when watching them, and to then swap such files at the end of the match.

There is sort of a way to do this, in Hotseat play. At the end of each side's turn, save the game. When you reload it, you get to watch your entire turn's moves. Basically if you save each turn for each side, you can watch all the moves of every turn, or the turns of your choice.

So if the PBEM system would allow a similar function, say players can download and save their own turns locally after they finish, and at the end of the game both sides can exchange their saved files... I'm sure there can be even better ways to achieve this.

The PBEM can make sure players only play from the directly downloaded version and not any of the locally saved ones, so there can be no worry of someone editing their saved files...

In fact, right now, the desperately needed replay function in PBEM is to allow players to re-watch their opponents' moves as many times as they wish, and to rewind/forward... Asking players to use a video recording software isn't the best solution, really.

This request was for complete armchair quarterback re-watch. To study film like football coach.

Yeah, probably need to some fancy record software.

Also, you'd want ability to have FOW *On/*Off to study every detail out like chess.
Also, a timer, because real-time would take forever.

Yes, using a recording software would be of course possible but very tedious.
The Hotseat save thing would be a bit better but tedious too.

I was thinking of something like Elvis said.
I think Civ4 for example had a function at the end, where you could re-watch "minimap progress". I always did that :)
Of course implementing some re-watch thing would bring no great benefit to the game while probably requiring serious work.
So I keep on dreaming!
