ThunderLizard2 (Axis) won versus DmitryN (allies). Battled until August '46. Allies bogged down in Western France. Paris see-sawed. Italy gone and Allies stuck at foot of alps. Russia finally fell July 46 which spelled the end for Allies. London and Southern England taken by Axis. Tokyo in danger Korea taken and China almost retaken. Axis making a push in middle east. Excellent match!

The math was very interesting. Never played until so late game. Actually i thought that minor victory conditions apply to 1945 not 1947. And in 1945 i got them strongly. That is why i stopped researches 1944 which was a big mistake. Learned a lot of things from ThunderLizard.

Game Ended:

petedalby (Axis) defeats ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) --- Axis used minimalist cookie cutter against Allied tech buying. Russia got cracked. Axis must have put x2 chits into Spying & Intelligence. Russia took forever to get level 2 infantry tech. Impossible to fight Level 3 Panzers. Opponent played well and I got lazy in North Africa. Brits spend all their money on Air.

Brits went heavy on Royal Air Force. I got lazy on North Africa. Didn't think Panzers were coming. So when they did, I just left, no way to stop the Super Panzers (you sent two Level 2). The Chinese played dumb too. Instead of buying an extra Army at death discount, got Artillery, dumb.

Yanks/Brits did capture France is a suicide paradrop mission. Game was way over. Russia was so far behind in tech. Germans barely took damage.

Japs turned the Pacific Ocean into their personal swimming pool. Yanks had to send everything to France. Didn't game was over when Russia couldn't get level 2 infantry before too late.

Figured I'd let Axis have some fun & blast the Allies, but I knew it was already over.

Indian Army trapped in Africa, their homeland toast. Japs took no damage.

Game completed, Schuki92 (Axis) vs Thunderlizard2 (Allies), Allied victory, Summer 1942

That was one of my first mp games and I guess I made some very typical beginners mistakes. Anyway, in 1942 the red army started their counter attack and western Allies landed in Italy. At that point I didn't see any chance of winning anymore. However, we just started the game over again giving me a chance to show what I learned from playing more experienced players. Here's the announcement:

Schuki92 (Axies) vs Thunderlizard2 (Allies)

New ELO game started:

rafaelmbaez (Allies) vs petedalby (Axis)

Allies win in September '43. Great aggressive play from rafaelmbaez knocked the Axis off their stride. Barbarossa started in March '41 but stalled when the UK hit France & the Netherlands in Sept'41 with forces including 4 tanks. I wiped most of them out but the US reinforced France with another 4 tanks just 2 turns after a poor Pearl Harbour.

The Axis were on the back foot thereafter despite taking Leningrad & Archangelsk the continuous drain in the West stopped a knock out blow. The Japanese did well with the US totally focused on Germany.

A most enjoyable game with huge attrition and losses on both sides. I am always secretly pleased when the Allies win even if I'm on the losing side as it restores my belief in the balance of the game.

Thanks petedalby!

Great game, suffered a lot in China and Japan was an unstoppable war machine. I had nothing to contest it, and it was fun to battle in India and the Pacific with my minor forces, while I focused in Europe.

In Europe, seeing that you abandon NA, I knew you will put all your effort in Barbarrosa. Was a shock to see Germany with 8 tanks. My priority as the Soviets was to focus on destroying as many panzers as possible to delay the push, while UK and US were just building land units. I setup the usual defense in Pskov-Smolenks and in the Dnieper although this line was quickly crushed.

As Soviet I also made a few mistakes in Kiev, Vladivostok and Leningrad defence... I will do better next time.

But the main thing is that I saw you left undefended a few ports in France using air recon ( I think this is a fatal mistake ) and I landed without opposition in Normandy and Holland. Then you lost another turn without surrounding and destroying those forces ( another fatal mistake ), and having the ports allowed me to reinforce in full and quickly.

Then it was just a hard hard hard push into France and then Germany with lots of lost units. You completely destroyed my forces in Belgium and Holland but in France I advanced so it was just a matter of time, US economy was very strong ( 1000 MP ) plus UK was doing 500 MP.

The US and UK airforce proved to be a massive asset too, countless of Axis units destroyed with them.

Great game, learnt a lot too.

PS: With the Allies I have learn that its a must to be as aggresive as possible against Germany, its the key to victory, while focusing in Italy or Japan is a distraction. And the Soviets must focus all their efforts in delay the Germans, trading units for space, and focus in destroying the panzers at all cost.

[LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Marcinos1985 = Allies) ---> brought his x3 strategy to Europe. Russians had nice defense real trick. Pacific had zero action.

Marcinos1985 is a solid Allied player, enjoy playing with him. He does the x3 threat on Germany, but my real problem was I just flat out lost in Russia, too slow. The Pacific has zero action. Took China, and soon India. But Germany got absolutely invaded in late 1943. Paratroops and the usual swarm of SF on Italy plus tons of air power. Not sure how Russia gets so much tech quick. Are players using Spying/Intel????

GG Elvis.
No S&I for USSR, not enough MPP's, for it to work you would have to double chit it early. And Soviets don't benefit from US/UK S&I I believe.
Or do they?

Interesting game where Russia held onto Leningrad and Moscow while the Axis took Stalingrad and Perm.

@Marcinos1985 --- Yeah, for some reason, your game fits well against me. War in the sands of Africa. Your use of Bombers is top caliber. I'm sure you spotted the German Panzers in the Middle of France. You kicked their ass with Bombers supplies. No gas, toast. Ugly. Well done on your part, very well done. I was waiting for you to land, make a mistake. I guess, Southern France. Instead you went Normandy and Northern Italy, sucked, bad.

Dude, you're invasion of Italy was deadly. Killing 3-Star Van Bock and the Luftwaffe Aces (2 & 3 star) sucked out on supply. Very well done.

You really won the game in Russia, as usual. I bashed key troops in the Rostov fortress, bogged down. The fortresses around Moscow, cost me lots of MMPs on attrition. Japs got lonely.

Take it easy buddy, we will battle again in the future.

My comment about S&I is actually my failure to take advantage of it, as Axis. Of course, Russia is very short on MMPs. You had AA-2 on the start of Barby in May 1941. I was bummed. You had all kinds of fortresses in Rostov, I sure was attracted to them, and Moscow. Was 2-hexes from Moscow. The battle at Stalingrad was nasty exchanges. I poured all MMPs into. The Panzers in reserve in France were for Patton. You put on quite an Air Show and didn't make any mistakes. Well done, kid.

Hi migace - thanks for the game, i think you said first multi-player right?

You had a strong middle section when you shocked my carriers at Midway, the japanese started punching hard in the north of china and i allowed you to get on a roll and retake Tobruk. You also destroyed the US behind the line landings in North Africa.
I got angry at that point and switched Bomber Commmand to the mediterranean and they devastated your supply, right?
Italy was next with Special Forces poised to capture those unguarded Italian ports.

You had strong tanks and lots of force in Russia but I held everywhere other than Voronezh / Stalingrad and mounted strong counter-attacks to the South-East of your Moscow forces and driving on Daugavpils.
The destruction was mounting and I think your right that the outcome was inevitable but may have taken couple more years to get there.

Good luck for the future

ED

I have some experience multi play with my friends but this was my first ELO game.
Through this play, I realized the importance of the France campaign and the importance of timing in North Africa.
Good luck with you!

Many thanks EarlyDoors for the update and great job.
There is an error somewhere. I lost 3 games and only 2 are listed, maybe my last game against Ilo4Tu was not listed... I should be 12/9.

That's right. The game against II04tu was not listed as ELO. It would be great if it was - a great battle of the masters - are you both happy for it to be so?

Ilo4Tu deserves all the credit and this game should be listed as ELO.

I am working in a new innovative USSR deployment to stop the Germans in 1942...not sure if it will work!

DmitryN (axis) v EarlyDoors (allies)

Game ended in September 1943 with Axis resignation.

A great game. I really think DmitryN is a rising star. He punches as agressively as Fafnir and kept the pressue on throughout. The Japanese were invincible and pushed China right back and then captured most of India and Pearl Harbor.

He took France in steady time then surged through Cairo.
We had a ding dong battle in the North Sea before he finally broke through at great cost.

The Russians stood up well, helped by one solid winter of no fly (1942 i think). It was here where his units over-reached in the Gomel - Kursk - Orel region. I counter-attacked, destroying 2 HQs and chopping their supply. Many died in the great surge into Germany.

Meanwhile UK/USA threw Corps into Western Europe and troops from Africa retook Egypt.
A really fun and very different game

Thanks

ED

ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) lost to KlasE (Allies)

--Got sloppy, made my classic mistake of trying to save MMPs, move regions on the map, forgot to move a filler piece in North Africa. Cost me HQ + Panzer, when I had momentum in the Sand.
--KlasE did Diplo'ed DEI and they joined Allies. Didn't notice. Good move on his part.

If Japan loses DEI to Diplo, game over.
