While building Spring High, I found three issues (possibly specific to the aircraft/loadout) that I couldn't get to work right.

- Ignore plotted course seems to leave group lead obeying throttle command, other three members lag and climb (cruise/unknown alt) when attack order is given. I was manually targeting (Ctrl-F1) the SAM units; #2/3/4 in the formation would climb once their yellow targeting vector appeared, then descend back to loadout attack altitude.

- Manual altitude input is *sometimes* being ignored. Group set to 1100ft AGL at a waypoint (to ensure high enough for M117 release) and it defaults back to Min Alt. Throttle setting was obeyed, and manual input after the waypoint would work as I think it's intended.

- Default Attack Altitude for mixed loadout appears (at least for this one, which I chose in error for the scenario) to be the lower of the two 'min release' altitudes. Flight lead is obeying group setting of 1100 feet, the trailers (#2/3/4) attempt to attack at 800 AGL; they release the Mk. 82s, then climb to 1000 AGL and circle to reattack with M117s. That's fairly suicidal in a defense suppression mission.

Zip file attached, with two save-games.

Exactly what version are you using? These AI formation keeping and obeying orders issues pop up and get addressed from version to version.

Also, I doubt that any of this stuff is specific to a particular aircraft.

Apparently I'm out of practice... that's super-basic info.

I've got Command v1.03, Build 1147.30

I'm not a developer, but I gave this a look (since I'm also very interested in the subject matter)

My question is, what behavior were you expecting? To me, 'Ignore plotted course when attacking = yes' means that the AI should bypass all human input and conduct an attack based on doctrine. The 'bug' is that the flight leader is obeying your input to begin with- the wingmen are behaving as I would expect, and not the other way around. But, I agree that is is almost never desirable to have the wingmen separate from the leader to such an extent.

If you want to set up a manual attack, I recommend ignore plotted course = no and plot the course you want over the target. You should be able to fine tune your attack altitude, etc. Also, this thread might help:
