Is it possible to install only certain maps from a mod into a vanilla install of HOS?

I kinda figured out how to move the .mpp and map bmps over but still learning how to overlay the info in the editor.

Hi Mikie,

If I have understood your question correctly, what you want to know and if the *.bmp files can be used in the basic version of HoS:
Yes that is possible, although I have never verified it.

The problem that I see is that the matrix of the terrain used in the basic version of "Terrain" (in Excel format), does not have all the terrains that are represented in Heroes and Leaders mod, so you will not be able to benefit of all the richness of the new maps .

Other information that you have to know is that the matrix of the original version of HoS and the Heroes and Leaders mod are not interchangeable (either you use one or you use another)

Thanks for the info, yes I see exactly what you mean. I have 3 installs going right now, one with your H&L mod, one with vanilla and one with my own personal "mod mix" which is a bit of a mix of yours and vanilla :)

I'll most likely spend more time modding and tweaking than playing.

Was just doing some experimenting with some ASL boards for the fun of it. The biggest issue is that they don't fit in the 2048x2048 set scale and it would take about 9 sections to make it work. I also need to find a good graphics editing program that would allow the resizing of the boards losing so much quality, if one exists.

To adapt the historical SL / ASL boards to the HoS format you have to make a set of modifications. A HoS board is 8 hexes high and a SL / ASL board is 10 hexes, so you have to do a simplification drill to match both boards. The same goes for length. Another important point to keep in mind is the "isomorphism" so characteristic of SL / ASL.

I enclose an example of ASL board 4. It is the left part of the board, which I have called "4A".

Here I attach an example of the same board "4A" made with the graphic style of Heroes and Leaders mod, with the adaptations that I have mentioned above.

Also, you don't need to use "a good graphics editing program". All the boards of Heroes and Leaders mod have been made with Microsoft's "Paint" program.

As you have seen above, it's possible to attach graphic images in the forum, but you have to follow the following procedure:

1.- You write the text that you want to transmit to the forum friends, and validate it.

2.- Next, you edit your own message, and now you attach the image you want to transmit, taking into account that it cannot exceed 200 Kb.

I hope this can help you.

I imported a few maps from the ASL module Streets of Fire since I never had a chance to enjoy that module and also because the larger deluxe hexes scaled easier.

for some reason I can't imbed the screenshots, and they are under 200kb and in jpeg format. Never had trouble before.

As for what I meant by better programs for resizing is that I still use Paint Shop Pro 7, I've been using it for years and I am very familiar with it. I thought maybe some of the quality lost during resizing is better handled with newer versions etc but perhaps that isn't the case.

I really enjoy the old school look of the ASL maps even though they are nowhere near as detailed as what you have produced, they just are nostalgic to me and I like using them to mix things up.

Your barrikady maps are amazing, I never got the chance to play Red Barricades but this makes up for it, it must have taken you forever to do all of the LOS polygons. My eyes are crossed just form doing my conversion of Streets Of Fire.

I still am having to figure out how to get the boards to I can piece them together later in the editor. I need to work more with it.
