Hi!

This is Mundy's and mine rematch, switching side.

We're going with same settings, same scenario and same house rules as our last match.

DaBigBabes B, extended map.

House rules:

cease fire in China at start
no Allied strategic bombing of Japanese held Allied territory
no 4E bombers on nav strike below 10,000ft (except USN bombers)
no IJ strategic bombing in China
pay pp for restricted LCU crossing borders
limited tactical night bombing, has to be discussed if a side starts this excessively, strategic night bombing without limits

Pearl Harbour attacked!!! In a bold move the Japanese Empire brought several aircraft carriers into position near Hawaii and launches an airstrike against the Pacific fleet...

lots of damage done but this is Babes and bomb damage isn't as severe as in vanilla but due to a magazine detonation we outright lose BB Nevada... no other BBs were lost and if there isn't a second day strike we will do just fine... actually I'm glad Mundy went for Pearl as I always fear KB in the SRA way more than bombing Hawaii's old battlewaggons even though I hate losing any major ship... Mundy kept a lot of his fighters strafing the airfield which turns out to be a disaster (for the IJNAF) as lots of them were downed even though they also did a lot of damage to the airfield and the aircraft there...

we did lose over two dozen aircraft on the ground today with way more being damaged but that loss isn't as severe as the loss to KB's air arm... surely they haven't lost as many pilots but most likely nearly two dozen fighter pilots were lost over Pearl's airfields as the Zeroes were shot down by flak... Vals take the expected losses and Kate losses were really more than light as they are the real ship killers... only 7 lost for the damage done is an excellent trade...

as you can see there are no more ships in danger of being sunk at Pearl if there isn't a second day strike and considering the losses to KB's Zeroes I don't expect a strike even though if I always highly advocate for two if not three days of continuos strikes against Pearl Harbour if you actually go for it... as it stands now we have only lost one BB and that wouldn't be worth it for me to have KB that far away from the SRA as you can sink an old BB any time even with a single sub getting a shot at it...

there are things I often really can't believe they're happening... I know that Japanese minelayer sub is set to lay mines at Bataan by default and therefor I created two minesweeper TFs to go to Bataan (hindsight ) and after creating the minesweeper TF I created all other TFs at Manila to flee the harbour with the sub TF being the last... what happens? The subs run into the minefield but no other ships at all and my minesweepers did exactly nothing... usually mines are ALWAYS spotted if they are there and you move a minesweeper into the hex... Pickerel was outright sunk by the Type 88 mine the other two subs will survive... leaves me thinking about our last campaign where enemy subs kept hitting my mines and nothing happened at all...

The aircraft at Hong Kong can fly to bases in China and then to India. Of course, they can also be used in China for some surprises especially on a river.

You do not need to use PP to do that . . .

they are all restricted

? Not in a normal game but then you are playing a mod. In the normal games, those air units and most of the troops are not restricted, only one of this is restricted.

unfortunately the enemy unloaded all troops in one go during the night phase and when Force Z shows up during the day all we can do is to sink enmpty ships and most of them are nothing but throwaways... still, Mundy should be aware that we take the chances we're offered... Force Z is pretty much the only real threat within the SRA at the moment...

Glad to see you back in action so soon. It looks to me like you're landing some blows already. Mundy's light carriers are somewhere around Luzon?

Not landing real blows yet but I'm preparing to do so. Just no self runner to do so early on as the Allied. Have to mass my limited assets in one or two places and try to hurt the Japanese if a chance arises. If that goes wrong just once it can mean having run out of opportunities for halve a year or longer (if your carriers go down in that process).

There should be some CVE and CVL around in the SRA and at least one of them is off Luzon.

the available P-40 early on are one of the Allied's limited assets and today we made use of them over Clark Field... was amazing to see the Zeroes being totally useless, not even taking part during the engagement so the Warhawks had a free shot at the Army bombers...

our fighter pilots overclaim kills but I guess around a dozen Lillies were destroyed for no loss within our CAP today... nice!

The Japanese can ramp up aircraft production quite quickly in the starting months but at the beginning they aren't swimming in airframes and even Lillies are worth something when you have lots of Idas and other crap around...

we've flown two attacks against LRCAP over Mersing and it has cost us over 20 Buffalos on escort for 2 Zeroes shot down, not a good trade and not affordable... we net about halve around ten ships sunk in three attacks (the first unopposed) and being afraid of also losing the torp bombers we will halt these attacks now...
