Have the Peggy raids ever zeroed out your aa ammunition on any task forces?

Not so far. They will replenish soon anyway, and on Jan 1 will be able to do so at sea.

The LBA night fighter groups that have seen most combat thus far have modest experience, in the 50's and some in the 60's. I've been heavily biasing top level fighter pilot replacements toward the P-51D squadrons sweeping Japan, and to a lesser degree other squadrons in daytime combat.

• Sea lift of additional forces to Port Swettenham is awaiting the IJN carriers' departure.

• A convoy, unseen by enemy search, is unloading a base force at Medan. They laugh in the face of the mighty KB. Unless they get spotted.

• The Dutch squadron was successfully extracted from the waters near Palembang and is nearing port at Tjepoe. They will be the first customers at the (future) newly liberated shipyard at Soerabaja.

• Our CL/milch cow TF has refueled from the oilers with the carriers.

• Our entire battle force is unseen by the enemy. They will remain in place for the moment, but soon must head toward friendlier waters to put ashore some aircraft prior to the arrival of additional squadrons.

• After successful negotiations with the mayor of Djambi, the 45th Indian Bde is now heading full speed for Palembang. They will likely arrive about the same time as the 44th Indian Bde.

• An interloper unit has appeared just SE of LangSon, obviously hoping to disrupt supply lines to our spearhead in China. We have a Bde in each of LangSon, Haiphong, and Hanoi, plus a Bde on the road in between Hanoi and LangSon.

• The troops at Tourane will immediately head for Quinhon, except for one armor unit which will speed to Dalat. When Quinhon is invested, those tanks plus an infantry Bde at Dalat will move into Cam Ranh Bay to remove that as a retreat destination. A motorized Bde will then hold Dalat.

• Our forces should enter Singora tomorrow.

• The base force unloading at Medan is mostly ashore, with only a radar set and some vehicles still to unload.

• Our carriers remain 2 hexes SW of Billiton and remain undetected so far as we know. Tonight we will send a TF with 2x CL + 4x DD into Palembang to raid shipping there. This will be a high speed run to try and clear the possible strike range of the IJN carriers at Singapore.

• The forecast for Japan for tomorrow is a rare clear day. I am going to take advantage of that to make a night Manpower attack on Yokohama/Yokosuka. 5,000 ft.

• The fleet carriers will return to the Marianas to deal with the upcoming air group upgrades. The escort carriers will remain on station for now.

• We have fighters and night fighters on Haha-jima too now.

• The whole dang Japanese navy is just outside Palembang. Happily they found our minefield. Sadly it was found by a tanker rather than a carrier or battleship.

• LRCAP over Utan Melintang swatted away strikes against the LST preparing to unload a combat engineer unit there.

• A Bde will arrive at Palembang tomorrow and attack without waiting for the other Bde to arrive.

Philippines

China

• Our spearhead arrived at the enemy's location only to watch the last of the Imperials barging their way across the river, nothing left behind but rude drawings in the dirt! Our spearhead will await further AA units (close approaching) before crossing the river.

• Tomorrow our forces will cross the river 2 hexes NW of Nanning. They will then proceed to Nanning to aid the main spearhead river crossing.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina

His continuing bombardments at Saigon suggest he may think he is reducing your supply (because of the counter-bombardment). If you have enough supply he is only hurting his own troops.

Yeah. He must know that with land bridge + air bridge I have all the supplies east of the Burma jungle that I need. I wonder if her for got about it, or if he is just trying to burn the supplies being produced there so I get less when Saigon is finally captured. Either way the troops there now are getting experience.

Overall

• Strategic points: 8,640

• B29's reporting ready: 160

• +/- VP today: +33

• Enemy carriers and battleships 1 hex NE of Palembang.

• Bulk squadron arrival day for USN carriers, along with resizing for some existing squadrons.

• Our eventually siege and reduction of Singapore will involve the RN fleet bombarding with all guns available as often as possible. We must consider that is anticipated by the Empire and perhaps the IJN carriers and battleships will make their last stand at Singapore to prolong that battle as much as possible.

• The high level of fortification at Palembang was expected but we had to take the shot. Tomorrow more forces arrive and, if we really need it (think lack of air and sea bombardment) a division is less than 2 weeks march away.

• What are the IJN heavy units doing in a Marsh hex where they previously identified a minefield?

• Suddenly there are 73 fighters at Tarakan, despite airfield damage reconnoitering to be 90%. The field will be hit by all 4EB within range tomorrow.

• This really messed me up. I didn't know the new fighter groups were going to rescale to 18. They arrived with 18 aircraft but sized for 36. I added 12 Corsairs to each group, the max at one time, so now I have to get them back down to 18. The real issue is all the work I put into getting 36 pilots for each group when I only really needed to find 18 for each.

• Our troops have some disruption from the naval bombardment but, more importantly, I expect more significant naval bombardments will follow. We have two Bdes and an A/T gun Rgt at Palembang, but they will consolidate their position before assaulting.

• Tarakan's runways were hit hard, as were the empty aircraft revetments. It appears those were the fighters from Palembang and they departed for the Clark Field before our strikes arrived.

• First assault at Soerabaja tomorrow.

• The presence of the IJN heavy units near Palembang without LBA support there might make for an opportunity to strike but we have to wait for our carrier air groups to straighten themselves out.

The mines ran out, and they continued to serve...

Oh yes, continue to use them. Use every asset, that is what they are there for.

INVADED

INVESTED
Quinhon
Saigon
Soerabaja
Palembang

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall

• Strategic points: 8,684

• B29's reporting ready: 126

• +/- VP today: +66

• Enemy carriers and battleships are still just outside Palembang; they have not moved.

• So it looks like it wasn't the new squadrons which resized to 18 from 36, it was the original fighter squadrons. So it basically looks like the USN fleet carriers set up to have 54 fighters, 18 torpedo bombers, and 18 dive bombers, but this seems to be after triggering 'Resize to Fit Ship' of the Hellcat and Avenger squadrons. I am going to Resize the Hellcat squadrons to 30, the Corsair squadrons to 30, Resize the Avenger squadrons to 15, and Resize the dive bomber squadrons (currently ashore) to 15. The TB and DB will share search duties.

• The surprise: 13th Division. Ground forces at Soerabaja were so weak that enemy bases several hexes away surrendered to our advancing small forces which got no close than 2 hexes to those places. Where the heck did a full strength division come from?

• We will commence naval bombardments of Soerabaja to weaken defenses and increase airfield raids to destroy supply. Other forces will be brought in to help crack the fortifications.

your opponent still got a lot of trained pilots if the Franks trade 1:1 vs Mustangs

I'm sure he has tons.

What do you think about my configuration of 60 fighters (30 + 30) per fleet carrier?

fighters are the way to go IMO but if your deathstars stay too long within LBA range his LBA will wear you down over time even with 2000 carrier based fighters present if he doesn't send in all his bombers at once just to be shot down. Franks and even more so Ki-94 can easily deal with Hellcats given parity in pilot experience, even Georges and Sams can go up against Hellcats.

Have you met anything better than Franks yet?

I don't think so, but the Ki-83 tore up the P-38J (~420 mph, the fastest P-38 model in Babes) that I swept with. The P-51D handles them fine.

Note the air complement of the USN CVs arriving later in 1945. they come with 36 F6F, 36 F4U, 15 DB and 15 TB. They have the nice amount of 72 Fighters. I usually resize the TB unit to 12, keeps me away from the overload and since the CVs have 36 torpedos, there are enough for 3 full strikes.

I think I will adjust accordingly.

Oh, if he has the Ki-83 then I'm sure he won't be going for the Ki-94II at all. The Ki-83 is better on paper but the Ki-94 has the advantage of being a 1E fighter and you have the engine available in 42 already as it's needed for the Jill hence I always go for the Ki-94 and not the Ki-83. So if you aren't going to meet jetfighters in late 45 you're already facing his best IJAAF fighter!

Leaves the Shinden as best IJNAF CAP fighter to be met.
