Very neat. 66 yards. 60.3 meters. To win the game on the final play. I think any sports fan can appreciate this.

BOOM!

Detroit has an odd history of losing 19-17 on last-play record-breaking field goals. I remember watching this one live on TV when I was a teenager in 1970.

They changed the rules after these types of goals. Before, a fail put the ball on the 20 yard line. Now it's placed on the spot the kick was made from. So...no more such attempts, except at the very end of games.

Yes, they did, as kickers got more accurate from much longer distancess. They also changed a rule after Tom Dempsey kicked his 63-yard field goal in 1970. Dempsey was born without toes on his right foot, his kicking foot, and wore a modified shoe with a squared off flat front surface. Some said that gave him an unfair advantage. So, to quote Wikipedia...

"The league made two rule changes in the subsequent years to discourage further long field goal attempts. The first was in 1974, which moved the goal posts from the goal line to the back of the end zone, adding ten yards to the kick distance, and awarded the ball to the defense on a missed kick at the spot where the ball was snapped. This was changed in 1994 to the spot of the kick. Then, in 1977, the NFL added a rule, informally known as the "Tom Dempsey Rule", that "any shoe that is worn by a player with an artificial limb on his kicking leg must have a kicking surface that conforms to that of a normal kicking shoe."

Detroit wanted a penalty called on Baltimore for Delay of Game, but they didn't get it. Replays seem to indicate they might be right, which makes the loss even more ironic.

The play clock may have been inaccurate?

On the radio broadcast the announcer was counting down the clock - 3, 2, 1 ... and three seconds later Baltimore snapped the ball. I haven't heard the official explanation, maybe somebody in Detroit has heard it.

Baltimore played a sh*t game and didn't deserve to win. Not that way. The kicked ball even hit the goal post and could have bounced either way. Lucky bounce for Balto won the game. So why even play the game? Just kick Field Goals until one side misses.

The #1 show in the US is The Masked Singer, the #1 sport is Football. 'nuff said, eh?

However, congratulations to Justin Tucker, the greatest kicker in American Football history
