Mrs. USSA was thrilled to turn the corner yesterday and see siding on the house!

There was more progress inside as well. The tiles are down in both bathrooms, the counter tops are installed in both bathrooms as well as the kitchen, the dishwasher and sink are installed in the kitchen, and the half bath downstairs has both the toilet and sink installed.

Here is a shot of the back of the house with the siding in place. They should be able to start building the screen porch now, instead of just the roof for it that has been there for 6 months.

Here is the counter and sinks for the master bath. You can see a bit of the tile work on the floor. They are rectangle shaped tiles, laid in "brickwork" style.

Last shot for today gives a good view of the kitchen with the counters in place. The sink is installed under the window and the dishwasher beside it. Gas cooktop will go in an opening opposite the sink, and the double ovens will go in the large opening on the right. The breakfast bar counter top is huge. It is 4 feet across the short side, which will give us plenty of room to sit on stools outside the kitchen while cooking continues on the inside. I'll post a better shot of the color of the granite without the protective plastic later on. We peeled back a bit to get a look, and we're very happy with it.

Off to Origins with the family. (Almost) annual event. I go to see the "greasy twitchers".

One of these years, I'm going to make it to Origins! Enjoy!

Origins was disappointing. Only about a third of the vendor space was being used. There was plenty of people watching though!

If you ever get to Origins, we'll have to get together. I live about half an hour from where it happens each year.

Yep, a pretty big convention. Unfortunately, it has evolved from a true wargaming convention (back in the 80s) to a gaming convention. There are things there that I would hardly call a game. My son, son-in-law and brother-in-law love it so I go to get a chuckle or two. I'm always on the lookout for a war-game, but rarely see anything. A friend of my son was there and asked me what kind of games I liked to play. I told him his I enjoyed historical war-games. He said, oh, like Axis and Allies? Most kids nowadays really have no clue.

No clue is so true. My 29 year old daughter and I played some campaign series games once....GP

That's a bit disappointing. I didn't realize it had drifted so far from it's wargaming "origins".

It will still be worth the trip one day. We can spend an hour scanning the convention for anything interesting then duck out to find a pub.

Hello Mike Solli - You and I have met face-to-face before, back when we used to wear green and our paths crossed a few times. Last time I talked to you was when you were working in the JOC, not sure when that would have been, possibly 2010-2012-ish? I think we may have had a short discussion on WitPAE. Might have been when I was BDE S3 for 37th IBCT rear det or maybe when I was commander of OMLT #2 ('09-'10). I was also CAO for Nick Rozanski's spouse so it might have been when that happened (2012). I retired after 32 years back in 2014. I seem to recall a post (can't remember from when) where you also mentioned retirement?

Anyway, I played AE for a bit (AI play only) back when it was released but quit cold turkey mostly due to deployments. I just recently re-discovered it and am having fun and learning a lot reading some of your AAR's from the past as well as the current one.

Cheers

Hey apd1004, I live in Lancaster which is about 40 minutes from Mike Solli place. He and I have talked about meeting up. But since I don't drive, it's a challenge....GP

Mike I forgot to mention in my PM reply that during KFOR, SSG (then) Ravis from BDE HHC had a Linux network server set up in the commo shop and they ran networked games of the original Call of Duty pretty much non-stop. If I wasn't working in the TOC or sleeping, I was there playing CoD. Those were some good times and like you said it was what kept our sanity in place. Especially since I worked directly for COL Perry and BG Carmony!

Cheers
