House updates!

Over the past two weeks there has been some good interior progress as well as the garage door and opener being installed. All of the wire shelving is installed in the various closets and I'm pleased at the number of shelves they installed in several of them. Mirrors are installed in all 3 bathrooms and the pull down attic door/stair combo is installed and works very easily. Kitchen progress can be seen below as the tile backsplash is installed behind each bit of the counter around the kitchen and the gas stove is installed.

Here is a closer shot where you can better see the detail of the counters as well as the back splash. I'm very happy with them and more importantly, Mrs. USSA is very happy with them!

Will the backsplash be sealed against grease splatters?

Thanks GP. No real changes on the exterior since the siding was all added. The garage door and opener are installed, but with the door open, you can't see any difference. No progress yet on the screen porch in back or any of the grading and prep for pouring the concrete driveway and sidewalk.

Good guess, rusty. 6 weeks from yesterday.

When you say "Closing Day" (which in my world means the date the contract deal is signed), does that mean possession date? And are you starting your move at that point?

BB, you are correct that "Closing Day" is the day the deal is closed and the contract is signed. We should get possession as soon as the paperwork is filed with the County Clerk's Office....hopefully later Monday afternoon, as we meet to sign at noon.

In case there are any hang ups or small delays, we are not planning to have access to the house until Tuesday. I have our refrigerator scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday, and will schedule the internet service hookup at the house for that day. We are planning to actually move on Wednesday, but will take some of our stuff and the cats over Tuesday evening. One night in the new house on an inflatable mattress before the rest is moved in the truck on Wednesday.

The experts list moving as one of the highest stress things a person does in life, but you have had time to get it nicely organized and a joyful experience at the end of the job. I wish you sunshine and cool, light winds for your move!
