Hi,
I’m not sure if I understand the difference between a section and sea-box when it comes to naval search and NAVs. Let’s say Italy has several SCS on sea-box 3. Italy has the chance to move a NAV to the same sea area on box 4.

If the NAV is set on box 4, would the SCS in section 3 benefit of the +1 on the search number, or only if the NAV is placed on box 3?

Or, in other words, the search modifier is applied to all SCS in the sea area or only those that share the same box than the NAV.

Thanks in advance

My understanding:
Each sea area contains two seaboxes, one Allied, one Axis.
Each sea box contains 5 sea box sections, labelled from 0 to 4.
A NAV or CV gives the +1 bonus on search only to other units stacked with in the same seabox section.

Thanks, I may have been reading the words sea-boxes and sections wrongly, then. I used to refer to box 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 (because they are a square, after all).

The RAC say: "Each sea area contains 2 sets of sea-box sections, which regulate movement and combat at sea."

It may be a problem of my poor English, but this definition made me understand that there were two sections (each of them with 5 sea-boxes).

That explains all. The use in WIF by everybody is as Angeldust said.

The reason for your confusion is that you consider 2 sections with 5 boxes each while both WIF and MWIF read 2 sets of (five) sea-box sections.

The rules for the boardgame have since been clarified to:

During fine, rain and snow increase your search number in each seabox section by:
(and then either +1 for nav or CV with planes, or +2 for CV with long-range planes)
