O.K. I am told that India should declare war immediately. This is a "no brainer" they say. Why? If it is to get MPPs to England this never works. The Axis parks subs off their coast and takes away all the income, meanwhile improving their experience. Sending units to help the English somewhere? These are too few to make any meaningful difference. Is there some sort of MPP hit for the Indians. Their MPP income is so pathetic as it is. So what is the reason?

Almost too many reasons to list David.

Even from the start the 2 Indian garrisons can be redeployed to release other Allied combat units. EG - the French Syrian Corps. The Malta AA Guns. To occupy Sirwa Oasis before the Italians. I'm sure others use them in different ways.

The additional income to the UK is a bonus. More important is the ability to build units that can get into the action typically in NA, IEA or the Pacific quickly. Read Taifun's most recent AAR to see how important the Indian combat troops were in defending NA & the ME.

For me it is a no-brainer. Hope that helps.

Does India National Morale fall after the decision? I am playing an SP game and Indian NM is 90% in January 1940. The graph shows a 10% fall in September / October 1939 - prior to the fall of Poland. Is there any other reason why Indian NM falls? They haven't lost any units or taken any damage anywhere. I don't think I have seen this before. Playing Allies against Axis (expert level) AI. Perhaps I just haven't noticed it before. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

If you say yes to DE 111 to have India declare war on Germany then India loses 10,000 NM.

Indians are perfect for outsourcing the jobs Americans don't want to do.
Buy the Corps, Anti-Air, and an Army.
Throw them into the front lines in North Africa desert for cannon fodder against Buntas.
East Africa hut city to battle the mighty Italians.
Toss them on forgotten island spots or suicide sail into clog Junta supply.
No need to waste technology on them, they'll never match-up to Yanks.

I wonder if the folks at Matrix would like to have customers from India buy this game. I wonder if you make the folks at Matrix happy with remarks like this.

Dr. Zoloft,

No one sends American Troops to East Africa. It's a wasted job.
Indians have no technology, no significant MMPs, no Navy, no Air Force.
Best spent money is on dirt cheap infantry, AA.
Use them to grab obscure cities in Africa or be cannon fodder.
In the Pacific, same thing, either hold until relieved, or suicide transports.
There's no time and the Russians need all the help and fast.
They are British colony.

Agree. Comments like this are completely inappropriate and false. We just went through a discussion on forum rules in another thread and now you post something like this.

You two (Zoloft & Murder) have serious issues:

When I said Commie Chinese, you're offended. Guess what, that's what they're called Commies. Is spelling Communist more proper.
The USA needed to nuke Japan. That's what happened.
I had Rona and you're offended. Better if I died. Don't worry, I will.
Is it offensive to say Indians or do I call them British or Gurkhas?
Indians (Italians, French Fleet, etc) are sacrificed in this game because you don't want to waste key American (and German) units.
Ask anyone I play, I suicide (aka Kamikaze Indian transports first, then send in the Superior Yankee units). Find empty ports. Everyone does it.
I play US Civil War games. Johnny Reb, Johnny Yuma, Robert E. Lee. Your blood pressure rises.
I've posted 1250+ times
I've played 100+ games.

Cry away,

It is a "no brainer" to immediately have India wardec Germany. Secondly..ratchet up the convoy to UK max..and leave it there except a turn or two when you need the extra cash for Inf weapons 2 for example. Buy some garrisons and the corps. No HQ need because they are to clean up Iraq and then Vichy Syria. (and or back up the UK in Egypt). Start bringing them home before the Japanese rampage.

btw..not all Allied players trash their Indian troops like JJRambo implies. Who does that with quality Inf 2 corps and armies in 42 and beyond?

Bonus material, on my Indian strategy, I never use William Slim.
My fan club surely remembers why.
I'll let Z & M figure this one out.

How do you ratchet up the income from convoys?

Go to Maps. Click on the Convoy Map. Click on the Indian flag. You can change the amount India sends to the UK. The default is already at maximum so you don't actually need to 'ratchet it up', but you can adjust it up and down depending on the war situation. Some players turn it down for a couple of turns to buy extra Indian units or an early Indian HQ.

I sympathize. While SC isn't anywhere as deep as say a Grigsby game, there are quasi-"hidden" features like that which may escape a beginner's notice. Oh, many (but not all) are in the manual, but it requires a diligent eye to detail to catch and remember them all).

O.K. Let me try and grasp this. The U.K. uses India as a cash cow and milks them of many of their units. So how do I defend the country when the Japanese, fresh from squashing China, start landing units from Calcutta to Pakistan?

Well the short answer is the UK is more important than India. And India has quite some time before Japan declares war on them.

You must be outsourcing your Indians.
Try defending the home ports, keep them on home soil.
Sri Lanka isn't worth defending nor really taking.

I like to invest in India. It is much easier to reinforce the Middle East/South Asia from India than from the UK. They have a decent force pool and I mostly focus on Infantry tech and maybe fighters. I will often shut down the convoy to build up there MPP's, especially if they are under threat, once the invasion threat to the UK has passed. Building a HQ early can give their units some staying power.
