Hey Guys!

First of all: please forgive me my bumpy English - I am Austrian. Nevertheless I try my best.I've been playing War in the East intensively for about three months - it's my absolute favorite game! So awesome! A few things are unclear to me. I hope I'm in the right subforum here. If not, please clarify. In the last months some questions have accumulated, so I am so free and post all at once! If anyone is deterred by the text lenth, I still ask to read through maybe 1-2 questions then! :) Thanks!

Questions:

1) Since I am trying to re-enact WitE2 in a historically accurate manner: it was the case that due to command overlaps and disputes over jurisdiction, very soon the 3rd and 4th Panzer Groups in Heeresgruppe Mitte were placed under the overall command of the 4th Army. The 4th Army, on the other hand, was placed under the supreme command of the 2nd Army. In fact, the HQ unit "2nd Army" also appears - however, to the best of my knowledge, the two tank groups cannot be placed under the supreme command of the 4th Army. Is there perhaps a way to accomplish this after all?

The same question arises for me for the Heeresgruppe Süd. The 3rd Romanian Army was placed under the supreme command of the 11th Army several times, especially in later months. Here, too, the assignment does not work.

2) It is possible to simulate excellently how until the end of June 41 the German Luftwaffe destroys the Soviet planes on the ground. With the most aggressive settings and adding extra targets as well as good weather, I currently come to about 3200 destroyed planes at the most in the first turn. In fact, by the end of June, about 4600 planes had been destroyed (1430 of them in the air and 3200 on the ground). By the end of the border fightings on 12.7.41 the number increased to 6857 destroyed Russian planes. How do you do it, that attacks on airfields are still flown after 1st turn? Problem: when I make reconnaissance flights, I see the result of the reconnaissance flights only after the end of the flight round. But then I can't send bombers to the fields where there are planes. If I speculate on airfields right away, I don't know if there are any there at all. In the next turn the enemy planes are already somewhere else. How do you deal with this problem?

3) If you try to keep the historical army structure, it results in a huge overrun of the limits in the game, regarding the number of allowed units! I know that this is a problem that has often been discussed here in the forum. Is there a solution to this?

4) The Romanian track laying unit disappears sometime soon at the beginning. Am I making a mistake or is this scripted? Is it because of the partisans or what is the problem? Can this be prevented?

5)Crimea: the transition from Kerch Strait to Taman was successful in one game I played. In another game it didnt work. I stood with three divisions in the hex of Kerch and could enter the hex "Ferry 251, 201", nevertheless these divisions were back in Kerch in the next turn. Were these pushed back? What is going on there? In addition, the fields east of Kerch showed up as "not passable" Why?

6) Do the OKH/OKL-Units have to be moved?



If someone can help me with one or the other point, I would be very grateful!

You will get them back as AI controlled units

1) The Panzer group and Army level commands are equal in size by the game designers. We know that the Gruppe was historically a step beneath but in the game they are more or less equal in capacity and capability. So they stay under Army group or OKH command.

2) Check out the posts on Axis turn one air. The people have done an excellent job at getting the results you describe. As for the Recon that is a WAD and it is cards we have been dealt. I destroy the Soviet Airforce by interception through GS missions. Playing whack a mole on the airfields will create OPS losses you cannot afford.

6) Minsk is a good spot once a depot is in place. Warsaw until then.

The rail repair unit disbands, but the smaller units attached to it go back to being support units. They repair rail auotmatically.

1) No. For the Axis the Hiearchy is OKH -> AGN/AGC/AGS -> Army or Army Group -> Corps

2) Yes. If you setup the AD properly you should be able to have lost between 65-95 Axis airframes with 15-40 Pilots KIA against the Soviets lost of 3,100 to 3,600 airframes with between 500-600 Pilots KIA just from the turn 1 GA missions. Once you start moving your ground forces you will (if setup properly) intercept and overrun Soviet air bases. I am doing a new PBEM right now and have only moved parts of the 17th Army (295 ID, 296 ID, 4 Mtn.D. and 100 Jag.D.) and just the 16th Panzer Division from 1st Panzer Group and have lost 4 Axis planes (1 Pilot KIA) against 315 Soviet planes lost with 315 Pilots KIA. By the time I fihish the turn I anticpate a lot more Soviet losses.

3) Yes, don't worry so much about the historical army structure, its a game. For example a German Corps can only handle 9 CC. If a Corps (or Army or Army Group) is overloaded transfer out the exceed divisions/brigades.

4) It is scripted to be Disbanded on turn 14, the idea is then the disbanded RR construction units get sent to the national pool (and/or to the Rumanian HQ's as support units).

5) Bug to be fixed.

6) Yes and no. It depends how far your Army Groups are from OKH.
