It's been a while since I played this game and while getting back into the swing of things I have run into an issue with getting workers to staff up my assets.

I am paying *way* over the private sector going rate (0.015Cr vs 0.003Cr) and worker happiness is within a couple of points of population happiness (both 'Very High), yet most of the public sector assets in my zone are showing red with a couple of hundred workers.

Now the private sector assets are *also* having issues with staffing up (27k population for 55k of private sector jobs), but I can't tempt very many workers across to my public sector assets at all, in the latest turn I have a shade over 4k.

Is there some kind of limit on the number of workers I can pull across per turn?

Regards
Luke

You probably need a lot of effort to convince employed private sector citizen to change jobs. Normally you want both fully staffed. Consider disbanding some private assets for credits if you really want more public workers.

Also make sure you have credits to pay for their wages and enough power to run the buildings. Either could cause workers to seek their fortune elsewhere.

If both sectors are understaffed, you have way to little poppulation.

You need to conquer more people. Maybe drop recruitment a bit.

This will/should help.

Yep - *way* too low population which meant I was utterly killed on logistics because I couldn't get workers out of the private sector to staff up my truck hubs, so then I couldn't get workers to any of the assets outside of my capital and all my soldiers were starving to death. Then that planet's 800lb gorilla decided to kick the door in and that was all she wrote.

I've picked things up with the turn 1 savefile to see if I can do a better job of things now that I have remembered some of how to play this game. It's a pretty tough starting position, with slavers to the NE and raiders to the NW so I expect it won't go well - but I hope I can last a bit longer the second time around.

Regards
Luke

Another thing I noticed was that my workers were moving back to the private sector population even after I switched the zone to 'hire workers and never fire them'.

Is that a bug or is it possible for my settings to be ignored if the governor is sufficiently inept/unpopular/disloyal?

If they "left to seek their fortune elsewhere" it's not done by governor.

If you are willing to share your 'rd 1' save file, maybe we all could check out this tough starting position...& suffer together.
Much like the Civ series does with their 'GOTM' challenges.

I would love to but the forum software throws an error when I try and attach a file, telling me that C:\fakepath\filename.ext is not supported.

The Forum allows only files of very few extensions and a 200 KiB Sizelimit. Savegames are more like 10000 KiB. So you need to use a 3rd party site.
