My Avast anti-virus is detecting an infection in the irsetup.exe - says its infected with "IDP.ALEXA.53"
I keep telling it to make an exception, but the install aborts anyway. I've even tried to suspend Avast - haven't figured that out yet - and tried even killing it with Task Manager, thinking I'd get the game installed, then reboot to re-enable the AV.

Is there a fix? I HATE running into issues like this throwing up a brick wall between me and a brand-new game.

I have Avast also. i right click the icon in the task bar and disable shields for 10 minutes while i install, then turn them back on once installed.

Avast and some other poor game unfriendly AV programs can give warnings on games and are false positive.

best advice is get a better AV, even the default ones that come with windows now days are better than the free ones from elsewhere imo

running windows as admin, helps

running the game as admin and also installing as admin sets the correct file permissions to install and run with most good AV and firewall programs, some poor 3rd party ones are just too game unfriendly i'm sorry to say, this isn't a fault of the game or how it's made / programmed either or any game tbh, just the programs itself, a quick search for most poor AV and firewalls gives a long list on quite a few game unfriendly ones, yours is just one of the poor few, but there are others

I will respectfully disagree with your comments on Avast zak. It's a highly regarded security package that got an "Outstanding" rating from PC magazine earlier this year with 4.5 out of 5 stars. I've used the upgraded version for years on all my families PC's and we have yet to be hacked. It's true that Avast occasionally flags something that some other packages don't, but I'd rather have that than have it let something run that is malware.

I'll be getting the game with my Matrix coupon in December and will be curious to see if the upgraded version of Avast flags irsetup.exe as a problem.
