Really excited about this game, you can watch the unboxing video made by Mark Herman (designer).

I am not sold about the map orientation but it looks great!
Several small scenarios plus the campaign, lot of player aids, ten countersheets and two mounted maps

As a wargamer, it's epic, I admire it and I've been collecting Mark's games for years. Realistically as a player though, this is why we have WITP-AE which was inspired by titles like these. :-) He makes a good point that hte smaller scenarios are reasonably playable. Something more realistically playable on the tabletop for the entire Pacific War for me would be his excellent Empire of the Sun.

I've played the campaign with the original VG version a couple of times solitaire. Super enjoyable and my favorite board game on WW2 pacific. My house will become a pacific war shrine: my PC dedicated to WitP:AE and a bedroom dedicated to GMTs Pacific War, at the same time.

I could never get anybody to play my copy of Guadalcanal with me, let alone something like this...

Yes, he is a really great designer and always ready to support his games on the CSW forum,

EotS is another very good one, I have played it 3-4 times in the past with great fun.

Is it playable in solitaire without a bot?

If a Vassal version will be released after the game I would be more than happy to play a small scenario

Only one side is supposed to know the intelligence condition. But it plays fine anyway as long as you try and pretend. And obviously you know what the other side is planning when you shouldn't. But a little multiple personality syndrome covers that.

Ah ah right!

I play solitaire only for learning but I have to say that trying to be someone else each turn is quite funny.
