My LOS tool only shows green eyes (the hex the unit is standing in) and red eyes (all other hexes it can see). When watching DasTactics videos, he has green, blue, yellow and red eyes. Is this a bug?

I think I have found out why. In my first round the weather is foggy. In his playthrough it is overcast :)

Yes. The color of the eyes indicates how many % of the recon points generated by the units in the selected hex are applied to the surrounding hexes. Due to the fog, your LOS% even to directly adjacent hexes is below 25%, thus you only get red eyes.

Note that even green eyes don't mean that you automatically spot enemy units - it only means that more than 75% of the recon points generated by units in the selected hex are applied to the target hex. Whether this is enough to spot enemy units still depends on the hide value in the target hex (terrain), the size and experience of the enemy units, the size of your own unit, etc.
