Game seems to be hardcoded for "insidious atmosphere" with certain planet types. Does not matter what actual atmospheric composition is.

Limos planet (lifeless) with lots of co2 - earth plants increase o2 level to perfect levels - but still says "insidious".

edit: It seems this level of CO2 in the air may be toxic over long periods, even if there is lots of O2. So the game seems to be correct - people would breath through some kind of co2 scrubber. Should not need full envirosuit.

Still can't figure out why sometimes it says "insidious" and sometimes not.

Rolled another planet with lower co2 than above, but says atmosphere is fine.

If the issue was just wrong O2/CO2 concentration, it should say "Imperfect. Filters needed to breathe" or level one respiratory Hazard.

Level 3-4 (toxic, insidious) are basically means the atmosphere is deadly on skin contact.
Note that a high Respiratory Hazard rating can include pressure, temperature or the presence of a Toxic Biosphere. Stuff like Pollen that realy do not agree with human biochemistry.

Given that I can not find a entry for "Alien Tissue Nutrition", it is save to asume the plantlife was toxic.

Your first screenshot doesn't show the full atmospheric composition, things like sulfur dioxide can lead to insidious atmos hazard even when in "trace amounts" category .It really shouldn't be dangerous on skin contact at concentrations like 150 ppm, which half the planets seem have it set to, but this is how the game currently calculates it. (SO2 is safe for most people at 5 ppm, becomes an irritant to mucous membranes at 20 ppm and becomes deadly on inhalation within an hour or so at 50-100 ppm. But that's what the masks and filters are for. To actually cause issues without reaching your face/lungs it has to be much more concentrated.)
