So when should I hit the F3 key to turn off the dual AI action?

I do it right when the turn starts, and unfortunately it still seems like it not only finishes the turn of the side that is active (understandable), but then quite often it will also do the opposite side's turn as well.

I was under the impression it should stop after the given side's turn (assuming I don't drop it right when it is winding down the turn)?.
So what is up?

The F3 button is a method to make the AI fight against the AI and is used for testing purposes, it's not really for use in actually playing the game.

If you are using it to run a test, you will either need to let the campaign end, i.e. when the victory conditions are met, or to close the programme via CTRL-ALT-DEL and the Task Manager.

I hope that makes sense?

Just to add the other options is to press F3 again, this will turn it off, and then once the AI finishes playing the current turn and possibly the next turn if that is what was set for the AI to actually control if F3 was not selected, then game control will be returned to you at that point.

Another alternative is to press Ctrl and Q together and this should present a forced 'Quit' game option that will then shut the game down.

BINGO. Spot on, Hubert. I hadn't thought of CNTL+ALT+DEL as a proper method to close it down to look at something, but in fact it is effective.

Funny that I could not think outside the box of 'I use that key combination when things are wrong/broken'.

Thanks again.

AH HA!! Here you have answered my question as to why it continues to not only finish the current side's turn, but also the other side (because that was the ascribed AI side). Thanks again. Now it makes sense.

Also CTRL + Q - I had not known of that. Great.
