Currently captured depots seem useless until connected by rail, at which point they'll ship their contents back to Berlin. There is however good evidence for the German army making extensive use of captured fuel and supplies during Barbarossa. (I can find the actual quotes from Stahel if anyone doubts it.) Some Soviet operations in the late war e.g. Uman-Botosani also benefited significantly from captured depots.

The suggestion is to save some of the freight in captured depots and treat them as temporary depots (similar to air supply). The freight percentage captured should be relatively low to account for incompatible items (ammo, spare parts etc.) and low quality items (Russian fuel). It should be further reduced if the depot was heavily defended (e.g. high combat delay).

From a game balance perspective this feature would help the side on the offensive, particularly in mobile operations, and should encourage players to take more risks with mobile units beyond logistical limits. I believe this would make for a more exciting game for both sides.

'to Berlin' nope won't happen, it will most likely go to nearby combat units, if not to a nearby depot at a higher priority

ignoring the fuel issue, this is exactly what happens now and why you will see rail usage and/or freight moves for depots that are off the grid. Key is to establish a depot in a newly captured city then the freight that was captured goes into the local depot system
