I found an interesting video about Lancaster bomber operations in the closing year of WWWII.

It's before CMO's timeframe begins, but it has plenty of wartime colour footage of all the different stages of readying and mounting a heavy night bomber raid, not only of the aircrew themselves, but also the extensive array of supporting personnel involved in planning, arming, fuelling, maintaining, briefing, controlling, tracking, and debriefing.

If you've ever wondered what your heavy bombers are doing during their prolonged readying process, this should give a good idea.
