Welcome to the first CMO PBEM Tournament! You will face off against your fellow CMO players for prizes and forum fame. We will be using the most excellent IKE Framework (link here) to give you a totally unique and amazing CMO experience. How Do I Sign Up? Registration is closed! Brackets will be posted in this thread. What is IKE? IKE was created by Musurca to allow you to PBEM CMO in various fashions, we will be using the WEGO method. Ike Framework Link In a nutshell you, and your opponent, will enter orders, then one of you will watch the turn. After that round you will both enter orders, but then the opposite player will watch the round. Each turn will be 20 minutes long. I heard there are prizes? There is! I will be awarding the overall winner a copy of HI Suttons Covert Shores Submarine Identification Book. https://www.amazon.com/World-Submarines-Covert-Shores-Recognition/dp/1541392302 Matrix is kindly providing a $20 credit for the Matrix Store. Which scenario? We’ll go to the time of Top Gun and US Naval Supremacy. 1985! Each player will have the exact same fleet to hunt the other. In this case, a Saratoga Carrier Battle Group near Hawaii. The only goal is destruction of the opposing fleet. How long will each turn take? Your first turn may take 15-20 minutes as you set up pathing, mission areas, and plan your advance. Later on it may only take a few minutes. Seeing as you cannot micro-manage your units you will want to use patrol missions or strike missions. How do I win? Primary objective : Destroy the enemy carrier. Secondary objective : Destroy the rest of the fleet. Do not destroy civilian shipping. You can destroy every single one of your opponents ships, except the carrier, and they will win if they destroy your carrier and nothing else. I’m signed up, what next? On December 2nd you will receive your opponent. Player 1 must enter the match ID code. This will be used later when you finish a match, see below. That screenshot will be unique proof of match completion. I’ve got my opponent, how do I reach them? You must reach out to him, or her, and coordinate the back and forth of your turns. The CMO Discord is a great place to exchange files, otherwise you will use email. Should both players have a Matrix Forums account you may PM the file back and forth or even attach it as a post in this thread. What about loadouts? During your setup phase you’ll be able to pick any loadout and it will be immediately ready during your first round. The exception is nuclear ordnance. We want to give you as much freedom to operate as you see fit. Your first phase is for setup, use this time to pick weapons, set up initial missions, and plot your starting path. If you don’t pick loadouts now, you will have to wait for hours for your planes to arm. Where is my opponent? Your opponent will be on the opposite side of Hawaii. Starting positions are randomized within a zone. I give up! You can forfeit your round at any point in time. If real life intervenes please let me know or post in the thread. Your opponent will move on to the next round. Should you, or your opponent, lose most of your fleet and are unable to complete the objective you may forfeit. It's not necessary to play to the bitter end if no progress can be made. I won! Post your success, or failure, to the Tournament Thread. Winners will move on to the next bracket for a fresh challenge. I want to stream/post/record this! Sure, but let your opponent know so they don’t stumble in and learn all of your amazing tactics. I’m a professional, can I participate? Yes, but you will need to discuss the ability to win prizes with your Chain of Command. You may also choose to have your winnings donated to a charity of your choice. I live in the Falkland Islands, will you still send me my prize? Yes, I mailed a fruitcake to Moscow once, I’ll get you your prize. Special Objective! There is a neutral SAM site, Neutral Radar, and Neutral SOSUS Bunker on the Hawaiian Islands. If you can bring a helicopter to a hover at minimum altitude, then you will “control” the site as long as your unit is in position. Special note regarding getting a rotary asset to hover. You need to set a waypoint on the objective and Right Click to access the waypoint menu. At that point you can define HOVER and Minimum for altitude. To make it easier to do this you can set a "Support" mission near the objective then unassign the unit and make the waypoint. Unfortunately you cannot set a Support Mission at a hover. You may destroy these sites without issue if you prefer not to capture them. What about cheating? The scenario is locked so that you cannot open it with the editor. Each side picks a password, so unless you share your opponent or it's 1234 (the same as my luggage) you will be fine. Do not forget your password as we cannot access it. TL;DR CMO Tournament. PBEM. Sign up at this form. Win prizes. Please pass the word!
