So I was wondering what is the best way to prepare an airfield ? I feel like I might be doing something wrong.

In WitW you where able to set the TOE manualy, so the airbase would build up before you would transfer the aircraft.

Now in WitE2, if you do a "planned transfer";
Many times, although choosing a "planned transfer" supply, fuel, etc... magically apears. Then the aircraft fly over immediately and the airbase is partially OOS.

I would think a planned transfer only occurs next turn, to a fully supplied airbase unless it was supplied allready (but how would it be if you can't set it manualy).

the planned transfer will mean the system does its best to get the assets in place.

Can't check at the moment but when you plan a move the airbase(s) targetted will show support elements, fuel, ammo as green (already fine), yellow (should be ok), orange (shortage), red (critical shortage).

You can use that a bit in your planning, if the target airbases are near to well stocked depots, then orange will sort itself out (this is a bit by instinct but broadly works), if there are no well stocked depots then odds an orange indicator will take a couple of turns to clear.

If thats the case, I'd reduce the volume of the planned transfer in the first instance. At a pinch those recon bi-planes are invaluable for triggering asset deployment. So it might not be a single turn to get it all up and working.

At first I found the loss of the WiTW routine to impose an airbase TOE a bit tricky at first, but on balance the WiTE2 version demands less fussing in the CR as you set and amend TOEs.
