In the circled hex the British unit is chasing a Japanese unit that retreated.

Movement direction is to the SE.

A river can be seen running behind the British unit, that was previously crossed.

The unit Interface, that will be posted in the next panel, indicates a river is being crossed in the direction of movement to the SE.

Either the Hex Data file or the Map artwork is in error as no river is depicted on that hexside in the artwork.

Yep that's a map bug. In fact, there's TWO sides with the "river" (F6 key highlights the issue - see red arrows)

Thanks for the report. I will fix these and upload new map updates (these errors are in the extended map as well) to my AE website. It may be a couple of weeks though, as I am taking a 10 day break away from civilization. I will post in the forum when fixed.

So you're coming to visit North America then?

Well, it took me a while as I overlooked this report, but it is now included in my latest updates to the official and extended maps.

Thanks again for the report.
