ORIGINAL: mark dolby So glad to see another new player. 5 turns into a 1940 German campaign myself. Keep us all posted and feel free with the questions. Mark. Thanks for the welcome, Mark. I spent an hour skimming through the player guide, enough to get started but there's no substitute for on the job training and the basic mechanics of the game are easy enough to pick up. Once I got started, I soon realised that there's the promised depth to the game I'd been hoping for, hidden not far below the surface. I went with the Axis "One week" scenario option, which I thought was long enough to get an idea and nail the basics before committing to the full campaign. Currently planning my raids for day 3 and already it's obvious that for anything longer than a week, the playing stops and the thinking gets a lot more serious. Points worth noting so far.. First and foremost, it's just a game. It's a bit clunky and the graphics are showing their age.. Yes, I'd pay the game price again for a better map with historically accurate detail (When did Tilbury slip south of the Thames) but it isn't likely to happen so I'll work with what's there. I'm not a computer expert but I'm guessing that an updated, corrected map would also involve a full re-write of the program codes so the a.i. recognised the change and targeting wasn't off.. We can all dream. The fun highlight so far was at the end of the first day, my top scoring aircraft/pilot was a Ju87 with 2 kills Much seems to be modelled into the game but until I've played for longer I can't be sure. One example being night raids... Even on large costal targets such as docks, night raids do little damage. I'm pleased about that of course but my reason for planning them is to effect RAF fatigue and such.. I'm hoping that is also modelled into the game but I haven't played long enough to know yet. Really looking forward to starting a full campaign and I'll definitely keep you posted... No real questions as such yet but I have no doubt they'll come.. I just have to stop trying to zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel. Richard.
