Hello, all: I have been using PBEM but have just tried to begin with PBEM++ . I can open a game after my opponent's previous turn, but can't figure out how to save the game while I'm playing my turn and need a break, or how to upload the game to the online PBEM++ system. I see no button in my version of the game labeled "Resume Saved Game". Can anyone help me out here?

As far as I know, there is no way to save the game for a break. If you do, it converts to regular PBEM and will not upload back to the server and you then have to email the game to your opponent (I could be wrong ... if there is a way to do that, chime in). For me, in the large scenes, then I just leave the game running if I need a break. I've left it running for hours while running errands etc., never had a problem w/ it (yet LoL) ...

When you finish the move (when the final combat resolves, or you end your turn) then the machine will automatically load your reply to the server. I hope this helps! Someone correct me if this is wrong, I too would like to have ability to "save" a game mid-turn in the server style, esp. useful for FitE2 or similar huge scenario.

I've found a way. Go to the menu and chose "close" and you will be presented
with a dialog where you can choose "save and close" and it will save the game
as is on the server. When next you load it the situation will be the one you
closed the game with. I've done this multiple times and so far it's been
working out.

Trying to figure out how to save a PBEM game? Read on, but first, it's appropriate to express a deep level of frustration and disappointment directed to Matrix Games, and the developers of this game in particular. To save a game, you'd think you would select "save game" right? Wrong. Save game and load game work fine with scenarios played against the computer AI; they're saved to your local hard drive. And in fact, you can save and load your PBEM game from your hard drive as well, but when you complete your turn and click "end turn", you'll receive the dreaded "a sal file cannot be sent by email". If this has happened to you, I don't need to tell you that, at this point, you're totally screwed. Your only option is to reload the scenario from your list of active PBEM games and play the entire turn over, from the beginning. Can anything be more frustrating and devastating than spending hours, even days, on a turn, only to discover that you have to play the turn over? Surely, game developers must be aware of this issue but inexplicably have not seen fit to fix it.
There's not a single word in the game manual for saving a PBEM game, so here it is. (Thanks to Larry and Curtis Lemay).
Use the file pulldown menu but DO NOT select "save game". Rather, select "close". A popup will ask whether you want to cancel or save and close. Choose "save and close". After a time, the game screen will disappear, and you'll be back at the main OAOW menu. Your game has been saved to the remote game server. Not a word in the manual about this either. To continue your turn, open OAOW to the main menu. DO NOT choose load game. (You can select load game, but your PBEM game will not be listed, only games saved to your hard drive. Select "play online". When your list of PBEM games appears, the scenario you want to continue will be listed there. Don't be alarmed by selecting "start your turn". The game loads from the server at the point where you saved it. When you're done, click end turn, and the game will be sent to your opponent.
