Hey everyone, still learning WitE2 but after turn one, all my air power is doing nothing but running recon during the air phase and ground support during the ground phase.

I am using auto AI for air.

I tried setting some manual options for ground attack/bombing cities and then using Shift+A to run the AI thing. But still nothing but recon. Am I missing something?

If you have AI assist enabled it will wipe out anything you add and will only do what it wants.

The standard AI assist will generate those types of missions plus air superiority. I don’t think it auto generates GA or City Bombing by default.

Ok, so I need to manually set it up to strike at cities and airfields, etc?

you need to disable the Air assist and set up everything manually. Every turn.

it depends on how you set up the assist routine

if you ticked that option in the game set up then every time you press F12 it will override anything you enter. On the assumption its a SP game then you can untick this. At that stage press the AI assist if/when you want, it'll generate air directives and you can amend it as you wish, then press F12

now the AI makes it choices for a good reason, 95% of the time recon + GS is the best combination

so its worth a serious think as to why you want to bomb airbases (after T1) or cities (ever)

I figured as much, I know the Axis didnt put that many eggs in the Strategic Bombing basket and the USSR air force is laughable at best in early game. It was more something I noticed while planning to seize a city, it was surrounded with airbases and I was curious as to why it wasnt being attacked. Now I know!
