Hi everybody,

can someone explain to me how to get air supply transports escorted by fighters?
Right now, i think my savegame or some of the updates broke the system.

I tried everything (using 1.02.11). getting fighters in range, getting them on the same base the transports starts.
equip the fighters with droptanks. Get long range fighters near or the same base (BF 110,s). get the fighters and transports in the same Luftflotte. Im sure that the fighters have enough range to fly to the starting base and go to the target range.

Not one time a fighter shows up in the escort line, when i set the mission by f9. When i scroll down the list only Ju 52 and bombers!

Has anybody the same problem? In my game right now i usually air supply the kuban area. Normally no interceptors show up, but now the transports get intercepted often and i need the escorts.

thanks

try basing your intended escorts at the intermediate airbase, if you have your transports well back then its unlikely any fighters there will have the range.

As the axis, the Me-210/410 can be handy as they have a decent range, for the Soviets often the lend lease planes can help

Hey Loki,
thanks for the answer. But that doesnt help me.

Im trying to be more precise...i tried everything, but best example is.... I stationed 50 Ju 52 at Kerch airbase(near sewastopol). Then i stationed 40 Me 110, some me 210 and 40 FW 190 there too. Kerch is the starting base and manually marked as the fright giving base. The destination base is an airbase 5 hexes away, near kuban.
Tried it...no escorts can be marked when choosing the mission and flights. Only the transports. And yes i mark only the transports that are staioned at kerch. The fighters are equipped with droptanks and the base is well supported.

Can you always mark the fighters nearbye in your game or only very few?
I think its probably a bug.

I would love to know the answer to this too, because I can't get the escorts to work either and all but gave up on my transports.

But...
Have the fighters flown already this turn?
Did you change the type of planes?
And (dumb question): are your transports getting attacked?

Aside from that... 5 hexes isn't a lot. Maybe the fighters don't intercept enemies on such a short range because the enemy planes aren't spotted soon enough?

Please let us know when you got the escorts up and running how you did it, maybe other people have the same problem than us two.

Why can not air supply work some what similar to all other air missions? Choose a hex to resupply, staging area (where the fighters can be "drawn" in) and then which transport groups one wants to use (if any at that distant). I am also really annoyed by the very strange system that is used now. To messy.

you are right - just been testing situations where escorts should be available and they are not even showing.

so best reported as a bug (but I'll mention it as well in the testing forum)

Thanks, Gary has found and fixed this and we'll try to get that out in the mid-January update. Thanks for report.
