Using the satellite anchoring I added a sensor or two the the satellite and saved it.
It saved just fine, but when I tried to load it, it would not load anywhere.
I usually have a save but I can't show it.

You can't share the scenario with the satellite already loaded? Not sure what you mean.

No, the satellite saves fine but does not import from the save.

Just tested

Generate Delta Template works. Sensor changes occur. Anchoring was preserved for that scenario/unit and changes applied at a deep rebuild.

Kritter what are we missing. Need details on what you're trying to do?

Devs are probably off. So let's give them a few. This isn't a huge thing.

The problem is I modified it and then exported it and when I tried to import it, it did not import.

Nice catch. I see the issue.

Ok if you try and import a satellite it will try and import a land unit with the same unit number instead of the satellite.

To replicate

Export the Topaz 5 in the US inventory. Notice the unit is #95. Not import and notice a patriot with the #95 appears.

I'd bet kritter is importing something without a matching # which is why his CMO shoots a blank.

Something is definitely a miss. Something else I noticed is that if you modify a ship then put modified helo's
on it, export it, when you bring back the ship all of the mods are there with the exception of the helo's. For
some reason the helo's lose their mods.

Are you exporting and using a delta file with the mods? Pretty sure that's the way it is supposed to be done. Somebody, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Just tested this by creating a delta of a lasered Osprey with Avant jammer. I then removed both laser and jammer and then reapplied the template and the laser and Avant jammer were correctly added.

What am I missing Kritter?

I modify the units with a delta file. Then export it as a unit (ship, aircraft, sub, etc..).
This works very well. When I import the unit I get back exactly what I exported. When they added the ability
to export ships with aircraft that worked also. Except when the aircraft are modified with different sensors,
weapons etc. Then the aircraft come back with only the loadout it went in with minus the mods.

This bug only seems to be with ships with aircraft. If you save a single unit it works great.

My test was with an Essex and modified Osprey. What should I change to get your results?

If this shakes out to something we'll generate another bug report in a separate string

Modify the ships weapons and sensors, then modify the helo weapons and sensors.
Add a mount to the helo, something that is not in a loadout like a laser mount.
Land the helo on the ship and let enough time pass so it is ready status.
Then export the ship. The helo will be on it.
When you import the ship back the helo will be on it but with out the mount or other weapons you put on it.
Only the standard loadout weapons will exist.

Ok. Added a Jerico TEL and Avtobasta jammer to Essex as well. Modified Osprey with laser and jammer. Landed.
Exported both in delta file.
Went in deleted all mods to ship and aircraft.
Applied delta and sensors and weapons added to both aircraft and ships. All weapons and sensors added fine.

This is the end of my free testing day. Time to have fun. My advice is to replicate and post in a new string.

Just as an aside.

If you are copying the changes to another ini file/unit are you making sure the GUID in the tag is updated and you're not just using the original you copied? GUID's are unique so if you ever want to apply changes to other units by just modifying ini files you must make sure there is a GUID match between the unit in the scenario your modifying and the GUID entry tag in the ini you're using.

I did not use a delta file to restore it. When you export the modded unit it saves just fine.
When you import the unit you do not need to apply the delta file to it, it just comes back as you have modified it.
That all works as designed and fine until you have a modded helo on the ship, then the helo does not come back as
modded.

Have a happy new year and thanks.

Hmm. Maybe this is my misunderstanding. Always thought you had to apply a delta if you modified the base unit. Good luck

Not for a while now. This is one excellent feature I use a lot.
Especially when I am making a new scenario and want to use ships I have configured again.
One other thing about satellites is you can not clone or copy them, even if you anchor them.
