Game started:

MrTomnus (Allies) vs Fafnir (Axis)

Game ended with the Allies conceding in Summer 1941 as their position was untenable. UK was in Axis hands following a (late) Sealion landing, Afrika Korp tanks rolling across the Sinai desert and the USSR being invaded from the Germans, Turks and Japanese

Some hard lessons learned for next time! Well done Fafnir!

ELO ended: ThunderLizard2 (Allies) defeats arikogut (Axis). Decisive Victory in April 46 with the fall of Tokyo. Berlin fell around Sept '45. Axis kept Soviets at bay for a while and made Operation Downfall a costly one for Allies.

Rematch ELO started: ThunderLizard2 (Axis) v. arikogut (Allies)

New ELO: DrZom (allies) v. ThunderLizard2 (Axis)

It was anyway lost game with no sources to protect China already spring 1941 and all the UK and India troops lost in the Middle east. Really did not know that Yougoslavia joins axis if no coup is made. Guess I did not tried this before. Was sure it just stay some 40-50% axis in this case.

How is Yugoslavia joining the Axis triggered? I have seen this before but don't understand how it happened. I tried diplomacy as Axis and although had some advance, that didn't seem to do it

You can use diplo to get Yugoslavia to join the Axis - you need to go full in (all three Axis powers) and even then there's a risk they don't join before the Prince Paul coup d'état which can hit from January '41 through May (timing is RNG).

ELO Game Completed:
ThunderLizard2 (Allies) defeats madssiggard (Axis) in May '43. Only Tokyo and a few outposts remained in Axis hands. Early DOWs by Axis of places like Indonesia sent US mobilization up sooner than usual. Russia also mobilized early and was able to withdraw forces from frontlines back and avoid usual Axis massacre.

ELO Completed:

Fafnir (Allies) defeats ThunderLizard2 (Axis) - Axis resigns August '43 with Allies on outskirts of Berlin. Fafnir persued an anaconda strategy against Axis. Things started well for Axis with Poland falling month 1. On Western Front, Allies did a surprise landing and took Hamburg which was a distraction from invasion of France. After France fell, Brits made aggressive move against Norway pre-US entry and broke into Baltic by knocking Copenhagen port to zero strength. Once in Baltic, Brits attacked Kriegsmarine in port and managed to destroy entire navy in a few months. Once US entered, a surprise attack on Sweden was launched which took them out and provide a southern Sweden base for US strat bombers which were at level 4 by games end.

The game was decided on Russian front though. Barbarossa was launched May '41 but quickly ground to a halt in Ukraine. Fafnir did not annex Baltic states so Axis quickly DOWed and worked up to Lenningrad area. Brits landed in Northern Germany late in '41 which forced a diversion of significant units off Russian front. Russian counterattached with hordes of Corps in the Baltics and pushed Axis back into Poland. Also key counters in Ukraine where Russian's zapped Axis Hqs and air assets. From there it was a matter of time as Germany was capped at 500 or so MPP and it was just a waiting game. Allies diploed Greece and used that as springboard to take out Bulgaria and Romania. Soviets continued push West and had significant investments in mobilty for armored, armies and mech inf units. For units, 3 Mech Inf total with 8 HQs and tons of armies and armor - no shock armies

Pacific started out fine for Axis with Chinese pushed back to Chungking and Japan starting down Burma road. Usually DEI/Phillipines/Wake/etc. also took place in Dec '41. Allies focused on Southern Asia recapturing DEI and Phillipines.

For tech, US went for advanced, range and ground support - level 3/3/3 by mid - '43. Heavy investment in strat bombers with 3 lvl 4 bombers based in Sweden - must have double-chitted. Brist had level 3 fights/2 range (althought most not upgraded beyond 1). UK/US were at lvl 2 tanks. Soviets had no air asset investment at all and none in anti-tank (chit refunded) - lvl 3 tanks with lvl 2 AA and a ton spent on mobility. Soviets also built extensive 2-sided forts (2 engineers) on approach to Stalingrad from Rostov and between Smolensk and Moscow and on approach to Irkutsk. India went 2 infantry weapons and no AA.

On Italy, Axis was prepared for a invasion that never came. North and East Africa taken out but no landings made in Sicily or mainland.

Overall, Fafnir seemed to have omniscient powers which were used to find any opening left by Axis.

New ELOs Started:

ThunderLizard2 (Axis) vs. DarkGarry (Allies)
oldAHgamer (Axis) vs. ThunderLizard2 (Allies)
