Don't know how many turns I'll play, but FWIW.

German turn 1. Soviet AI is kicking me like a dog. Gee, thanks, RB.

Cheers

So, maybe next time you’ll think twice before helping me fix a corrupted game file?

Note, the Soviets always start on Track 1. Around turn 8 Soviets will randomly switch to either track 2, 3, 4 or 5 which puts the attack emphasis to the left, right, center or double envelopment. Wonder which flavor you’ll get!

Regards

End of German turn 3. The beat-down continues. Lot of the German formations not available due to re-org. Only rampaging panzers here are Soviet.

German turn 5, start.

Going badly. The Soviets have a lot of units and VL is starting to be surrounded. Only fun has been harassing the AI's rear area a bit.

Historically, this battle was apparently a mini "Stalingrad of the north"; another group of encircled German units that couldn't be relieved.

I don't expect to be able to hold out much longer at this point. AI seems to be able to sail into even fortified hexes without much trouble.

Cheers

Significant reinforcements arrive on day 10. Velikiye Luki may fall but you should be able to recapture lost territory. Also, the AI has a difficult time crossing the Lovat River.

Regards

German turn 6, near end. VL sees bitter combat. Some action on the flanks.

Bombardments seem odd. Sometimes a bust, other times they wipe out 20% of a target.

Cheers

German turn 8. Got a couple of Russian bridgeheads over the river and not much to repel them with.

But, hey. I re-colored my German troops, so they should fight more effectively, right?

Cheers

Really nice that we can play with the colors. I really like the grey, but the red is a bit harsh on my eyes.

I'm sure you checked the reinforcement schedule . . . the German boat is about to come in. Also, for the Soviet AI several ferry engineer units were added just to help the AI cross the river. The TO on turn 1 deletes these units when the Soviets are played by a person. That's one of the few force changes I made to the original author's scenario.

Best Regards, enjoying the AAR
