There is a youtube video where a clever person set up some photos of the Taiho, and the Indomitable, and flicked between them a few times, before concluding that the IJN got hold of the plans for Indomitable and found them inspiring.

Perhaps it was just convergent evolution.

If the bow would have been open, then fresh air would have come in from the front and exited from the stern - bring with it the gasoline fumes.

It's an awful tank, I will admit. Apparently the Russians called it (loosely translated) "The honourable coffin for 6 men". It's riveted design meant that, if struck or just even moderately agitated, the bolts that held it together would be launched into the crew compartment like bullets. Which was, shall we say, less than optimal for the crews health.

Status: offline 		A weird design. HMS Gotland is looking more like a cruise ship, than a cruiser, or rather a aircraft cruiser. What purpose she would have had in a conflict eludes me.
