Are Transport Supply Missions subject to the same FLAK attack rules as GS/GA etc are.

Using .13 update I am now seeing multiple Supply Drops by the Russian AI delivery tonnage with impunity.
Prime example completely encircled Smolensk receiving 12 Air Drops of Freight without a single FLAK trigger, even though the surrounding Axis forces are stacked with Low and High altitude AA.

Or is this just part of the bigger FLAK bug within the .13 update?

Playing RtL as germans (might be a general question): why is the percentage of supply/fuel/ammo not always the same in unit boxes (which displays on the right when clicking a unit on map) and the resp unit supply detail window under "current status"? Appears that at times % is higher in the detail window then in unit box. Just rounding differences?

if I recall the info on the detailed screen is set at the end of the logistics phase, the info on the unit counter will then alter as you move, fight, potentially resupply (say by air)

but as below, there are discrepancies even with a fresh turn, so I suspect there may well be some rounding, or post logistics phase adjustments

How am I transferring AOG from Reserve Theater Box to Luftflottens? I must be blind, but I can not find any way to transfer them.

Right click on air base and bring AOG from reserve. You can not do it from reserve box itself

Thank you very much for the information. I copied, saved and printed it.

I have had the game two weeks but haven't played it except for Minsk tutorial. and that was monkey see monkey do.

I have printed a lot of the posts for future reference and I am still slogging through the manual and watching Dojo's videos. He presents a lot of the mechanics but not lot of the whys, if that makes sense.

if attached to the HQ - none at all. If attached to a combat unit then it depends. A non-mot SU attached to a motorised CU will pull the needed trucks from the pool to motorise. So in general best to avoid

One of the most time consuming features for me is trying to determine what an abbreviation on a report or display screen means. Right now I am trying to figure out Support Units and how to assign them and why. I am on page 44 of the manual section 4.7.9. An insert reads "Pick New Hq For 767th Howitzer Battalion" under the units column a row is labeled "cup:6 max:12.
i have no clue what that could possibly mean. Can someone help with this. I hate to bother people for this little crap but I am spending 8 hours a day preparing for this game and this kind of stuff is taking way too much time.
I am going to try to upload a picture of what I am talking about but so far that has never worked so I tried to describe it ad nauseum in case picture doesn't show up.

combat units (as measured by commmand capacity) in the HQ, how much command capacity the HQ has. The same attachment screen is used for shifting combat units so those 2 numbers give you useful information if you are trying not to overload a command - less useful for support units but it does give you a quick hint as to which commands might make the best use of that support unit

as in previous post, I'd suggest you can over focus on the small stuff in this game when its the big chunky bits that are important. In the end, aspects of the game are still based on code written back around 2000, so there are things that ideally would be presented differently, that possibly could be revised (but at a disproportionate effort by a small programming team).

As to the manual, in the end we had to fit it under 500 pages, which would by far still be the largest that Matrix have published. We failed and got a bit extra, but in the end not every screen is described in minute detail. A wee clue though, if its not, its probably because by the time there is a gain to fiddling with that data you already know it (so its a sort of terra incognita, here be dragons, clue)

'cup' may be 'currently used points', referring to HQ's command capacity in use. So he first HQ has 6 points free to max capacity

Quick question regarding my position in a GC vs A.I I'm playing Axis and having to go the whole way to May 45 having lost the last chance to get a sudden victory by 30 pts.
It's now Nov 44 and iv'e taken every Soviet v.p city including Moscow, currently the Soviets are -86 pts.
The allies are advancing to the western borders of Germany .
Here's the question, is it viable to position any of my units on the border of western Germany?
I've already delayed the allies advance by putting a lot of units into the W.E theatre box .
do the hexes change regardless of me having units there? I have not seen any posts that give me any indication of what would happen.

given what you've said, you'll get an easy win vs the HWM test by 1 Jan 45 (the Soviets need to match or exceed your HWM or they lose).

specifically, yes regions flip to the western allies purely dependent on the TB dynamics, any on map units in a regionj just get deployed to the east of that border

That is certainly sound advice. But i did print your reply so I can refer back to it.

I have to tell you they made some things much more complicated that they had to. That little section in Air Doctrines labeled "Percent to Fly, Mission AC PCT and Escort AC PCT" makes absolutely no sense to me at all. One of the good players like you replied to my question about it and I printed it. I read it three or four times a day and I still can't figure it out. If I had been the programmer I would have simply labeled it "Number of aircraft I Want to Include in the Mission". And let it go at that.

Anyway, thanks again for your time.

Is it intended that divisions, for example Hungarians which are frozen on their own territory within 3 hexes to a supply depot still take damage?
By turn 13 they have 86 TOE

yes, they will be picking up attrition related losses, men being discharged and so on, in my games I end up with some of those around 60% by 1943 but they can rebuild really quickly once they are released (so best to have the potential replacements in the pool or refitting units in the Soviet Union)

Zovs, thanks for the tip. I did the air war set up three times using that Minsk guide. Very helpful. And it is a very good place to start from. I admit I didn't continue on to the land combat yet because I am still trying to get a basic understanding of the air war..

So I just tried skipping to an AAR titled Feeding the March East by Carlkay58. Of course I am having an issue. At the start there are a large number of Ground Attack Air Directives that must be created to bomb many Soviet air bases. I am able to do that. The problem I am running into is when I display the AD summary screen I see that I have duplicated many attacks on the same air base.
Is there any method to keep track of the bases that I have already targeted without resorting to pen and paper? I know I can get out of the Ground attack screen and press the key to show all targets, but for me that is clunky because then I have to get back into GA screen and I loose my place because the map jumps around. And I have to try and memorize all of the Russian air base names which just isn't practical for me.

And I don't know which LW Command I should be using to create the attacks because a lot of the air bases are outside of the large box that defines each LW Command territory.

So that is too issues. And I probably didn't explain things correctly.

A few comments:

1. Feel free to download my game saves and check out what I have done in any part of the game. This might show you where I did my turn 1 air strikes.

2. Shift-Y shows all Air Directives on the map -> this will help you keep from duplicating air directives.

3. Continue asking questions on the forum because they do get answered. If you have any questions on my actions in my AAR ask them there and I will answer them as best I can there.

Yes the shift y will show you all your AD so you can get an overview and adjust from there by clicking on the right for each AOG.

Hi,
I don't want to belabor the point because I am probably being dense But I can't help but feel there is a simple way to do this and I am missing the point.

Here is the set up, I am in the LW2 Assign air directives screen displayed at the right side of the map and select the line that says GND ATTACK(31). At that point I am ready to select the next Russian Air Base that I want to attack on turn 1. I have already assigned three GA directives to three air bases but, because there are so many possible targets , I can't remember which air base has already been targeted.

SO I have to close the LW2 box on the right side of the screen, press shift+y and that displays the already targeted bases. I write down the next untargeted air base, go back to the GA AD screen, and create the next directive. Rinse and repeat. All the time the map jumps around each time I exit displays and this process is taking a huge amount of time.

My question is, (because shift+y doesn't work when the GA AD box is displayed at the right side of the screen, is there a method to view already targeted air bases without exiting the GA AD screen each time? If not then I will just resort to pen and paper and start writing down every Russian air base and make a check mark next to it. It certainly isn't the end of the world and after all of these exchanges here it seems trivial. But if I am overlooking something obvious I'd like to know.

If you hit Shift+Y before starting to define an Air Directive they should remain on the screen while you are selecting the new target. That is what I remember anyways.

Another method is to look at the target hex that is shown in the Air Directive scroll box. If you have already selected that hex then select a different one.

No, there are no alternate history outcomes for the theater boxes. At most you will just delay the inevitable outcome and gain VPs & APs.
