When I opened Steam today, I found this sort of hidden on my Home Page which generally draws Turn Based Military/Strategy games.., etc.., Hex of Steel popped up. I have to leave for the evening, but for the past 20 minutes I watched some youtubes and was reading the manual.., jeezus, how did this get under my radar? Looks like it went under a lot of people's radar because there is not a lot of info on it.

If anyone knows anything about it, love to see it. I will be studying this over the next couple of days. The developer is one young guy.., could it be another Vic (God of Wargaming)? I doubt it, guys like Vic only appear once every ten years.., but yeah, who knows.

Lastly, the have a Free Demo on Steam.., I might try that out. Hopefully some of you try it also and provide some feedback. Thanks.

Isn't this the new name of the Operation Citadel game (which actually has nothing to do with Operation Citadel)? If so, it is a good, solid game. If it had stacking I would actually play it!

Several different size scenarios. Not a monster at all.

Curiously, ATG is now 10 years old...

Another more substantial thread on this is on the following page, where I enquired about the bare manual included in the game download, meanwhile over at " steam " you can find a very comprehensive colourful manual which cannot be downloaded, WTF is going on !!!.

I was able to download the manual from the Hex of Steel Steam page (here is the link to the .pdf manual). It is a slow download and if you have a slow internet connection, it will take several minutes. So don't give up too quickly.

Hope that helps.

Val is an amazing dev! I couldn't believe it when I read this in Steam today. Going to give it a try now...

I'm playing Hex of Steel now and can't get enough of it. It's also highly modable. I own Order of Battle WW2 and, of course, plaued Panzer General back in the day. This game is better than either of those.
It's also similar to Warplan, another game I own. Warplan though is like just one single scenario in Hex of Steel. I can highly recommend Hex of Steel to anyone who likes this type of game (which is probably everybody on a Matrix forum).
