Hi, in naval defense, is there a way to avoid shooting at missiles that are obviously off trajectory or which passed their target (i.e. in my back)?
Thanks

Change the Air WCS to Hold, order the ship to disengage all targets (this won't cutoff guidance for any ongoing engagements however), and manually allocate weapons for any inbound enemy missiles that still have to be engaged.

Generally if you are short of SAMs in your TG the method described by stww2 is very useful - but carries a bit of risk.

Like micromanaging air battles, you can get tunnel vision in this one fight, and if you don't pay close attention once you have gone to Wpns Hold, leakers might get through.

It is too bad the game doesn’t allow player to declare a vampire as neutral/friendly.

When facing obviously off trajectory ASM, put weapon on hold is a good solution but come with a great risk. A slightly less risk solution is to change WCS weapon engage range against guided weapon to min. For example , you don’t want to waste long range SAM to some off trajectory ASM that will not get closer than 10nm, just change the weapon setting max engage range to 10nm (or 5nm to be safe). So if these ASM suddenly make a sharp turn towards your SAG , you still have the SHORAD and point-defense system online.

That is not as simple as you describe. You can have a convoy or a carrier group and the ships with ASM defenses should shoot the missile even it's not attacking them directly. It gets quite complicated deciding on that.
