When the game crashes, check if you have a crash dump file. I will be named WarInTheEast2.exe.<number>.dmp in the C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\CrashDumps folder. Zip it up and attach it here along with the version number you were using when it crashed. Thanks.

No, I don't think so. Is your computer generating a crash dump file?

As above, look in your directory: C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\CrashDumps

I don't have CrashDumps folder at all.

I had no BSODs or any other crashes in other games before.

Its a hidden file for moston windows 10
In the start bar search %appdata%
It should bring up a file location C/username/appdata/local/crashdumps

I can see hidden folders. As some of this AppData\Local are also hidden.

Not sure why you don't have that folder. I didn't know about it until Pavel told me to look for it and it was there on my system. I assumed it's something on all systems.

So you were just scrolling around the map and viewing unit detail screens? Have you been able to load the Mp game in and get past that point?

Yep. After that I am playing just fine. Maybe just a rare failure of a windows/ram/etc that lead to a crash. If it will happen often I will let you know.

Ok, I've added the crash dump to a bug report, thanks. Since these are random non-repeatable crashes, we'll have to see if the crash dump yields any definitive information on what might be causing the crashes.

I also had a random crash yesterday, looking in that crash folder I have a crash dump file, attached.

I wasn't doing/clicking on anything in particular, just randomly crashed out of the blue AFAIR.

Glad that I am not the only one.

Probably I went too far with disabling telemetry and auto updates for a Windows. Maybe that is why I do not have the CrushDumps folder

I just had another crash/freeze on the current .whateveritis.15.whateveritis patch. However, no crash log this time because (I presume) it was frozen and asked if I wanted to wait for it to respond or not, and it was not responding after a long time.

Differently from the last one, in this one I was trying to save in single player mode when it froze, whereas in the last one I was in the game.

Previous patches have generally been pretty stable for me FWIW.

Beethoven, what version were you running when you got the crash which created the crash dump file you posted? It doesn't appear to be the 1.02.15. Unfortunately so far, the crash dumps haven't provided any clues as to why the game is randomly crashing.

I am pretty sure that was with 1.02.13, because I didn't bother upgrading to the one that was in between 1.02.13 and 1.02.15 for a couple of days.

Did any of the crashes reported in this thread while you were using a drop down menu?

On my 2nd crash (freeze) it froze when it was bringing up the yes/no choice to overwrite another save. Not sure if that counts as a menu or not, probably not, but maybe.

My other one definitely where it crashed and where I uploaded the crash report did not have a drop down menu, the last thing I did before it was click on a hex on the map, with the normal sort of map mode.

Got another one. I am having at least 1 crash every turn while viewing units. Most of the time it is happening when units are in TBs or reserve TB.

And again. Same situation, viewing units in TBs. Fortunately I was able to get crash dumps. Had to modify windows registry as described here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/wer/collecting-user-mode-dumps

Crash dump:

Thanks, that is a huge file. It is a similar report as MSAG has made. Pavel is looking at the crash dumps now. He says they are a different issue from some of those he worked on over the weekend. He will try to replicate it.

There are 2 options:

1: Mini dump
2: Full dump

I used second one. Do you prefer mini dumps?

Actually Pavel was excited to see the full dump. It's so big it doesn't fit in our Redmine bug tracking software, so I had to send it to Pavel separately. He said normally mini-dumps are good enough, however if you are set for the full dumps we'll take them. He said the dumps he got on this issue were very useful. A hotfix is about to go up.

I've released a 1.02.19 hotfix in a separate thread in tech support. Please try it out and let us know if it gets you past your crashes. Thanks.

Just got a crash while building the air phase, no indicators and no crash dump. Windows 7 on 1.02.15Beta. I will try I the new patch.

(I also had a crash building the air phase last turn but in the case I could see my PC was struggling just never got to save it in time.)
