Hi All,

I'm making some updates for a scenario in the editor and have got some questions around the weapon "facing" settings.

1) Does the "center facing" setting refer to a mount that can fire in ANY direction, or one that can fire to left or right, but not forward or rear?
Given that there is an "all sides" facing option I assume its the latter??

2) Does anyone know if firing arcs are assumed to be 90 degree quadrants or 180 degree half-spheres?
For example, can a mounting that is set to "forward facing" also fire to the left and right, or only engage to the front?

AA guns in particular were often mounted in positions to give a wide firing arc, so if the game assumes that a weapon can only engage targets in the direction of its facing, then I'll need to have a bit of think as to how I set these up for the most realistic representation in game.

Thanks for any advice.

The next post in that thread by Moss Orleni sets up a mathematical equation
That Michaelm did not dispute in the thread so it is something like that.

Rnd means a random number is generated.

F Forward
S Side
R Rear
TT Top Turret
BT Bottom Turret
TR Top Rear
BR Bottom Rear
UP Upward Firing
C Center

I’ve also seen the aircraft gun mount abbreviations listed this way.

TR =Top Rear
CL=Center Line
F=Front
R=Rear
S=Side
BR=Bottom Rear
BT=Bottom turret
TT=Top turret
Up=Upward
I=Inside
XT=External

F and R guns can also fire to left and right.

C guns can only fire to left and right.

There is a lot of abstraction in the ship-to-ship combat, so I wouldn't worry about number degrees to left or right, etc.

I assumed you weren't asking about planes at all.
