I would like to thank K62 for the game and wish him the best of luck. I am not a Soviet player by nature but have walked the path in WITE2 as a Soviet before. In this game I will be doing things that many probably would not do but I am going to do it anyway for a reason.
Here are the settings for the game;
Normal GC Game No Enhanced TB Locked HQ's Full fog of War Current Patch and update when new patch comes out No para drops beyond 3 hexes from front line Only 1 Motorized unit(up to division level) at any time and must be announced to other side. This can't be a Corps.

It should be an interesting game as we're both playing the side that we have less experience with and also aiming for a full game up to the actual victory condition. I just hope it's not the 525 point sudden loss .
I'll run a separate AAR but may keep it 3 turns behind depending on how this thread goes. If it's real time I'll try to reduce my delay as much as possible too.

I will put a 3 turn delay on posts too. But yes should be a very interesting game & I am sure you will be more than fine. Maybe I can pay M60 for some more golden Soviet tips :)

After seeing the opening, there is just no way in "HELL" that you are going to have a 525 sudden loss. I am still in the Air phase but pockets look secure, you murdered, sorry, I mean ran over with tanks 17 of my leaders, destroyed over 6,000 aircraft of the Great Soviet airforce. HA! I hope I have enough skill to try and stop you since your skill with the Germans far exceed what I have playing the Germans. If that is your "less experienced" side I hate to face you playing the Soviets.
Anyway, now to try and piece the shattered remnants back together...

Most of that was special planning for T1, but I really wasn't going for a "kill the leaders" strategy. I fully agree that the better Soviet leaders should not get randomly assigned to displaced HQs on T1.

It is just the nature of the beast and really can't control that turn one with Germany. I hope people understand that and it is the game system itself that attributes to the leader loss. I do like what Beethoven1 suggested on the leaders for the Soviets the first few turns. I think that is a great solution.
BUT, from receipt of your turn one it is "very" well done. A++ from where I am sitting.

The incredible level of detail in your posts has now turned against you I'm pretty much playing a mix of yours and Tyronec's strategies but may have found a few improvements in the air.

That is why I post for all to use :-). More than happy for people to use it and make it better.
The air you did is really nice, the fighter losses a bit high for me but definitely a very excellent first turn air bombing campaign. At this point there should be no hurt in showing the first turn results to the forum. After I finish my Slide Deck for my meeting at work I will post your first turn achievements :-)
Germans "exterminate" 6,096 Soviet planes in one week! 3,207 pilots executed without blindfolds too! If the first turn is any indication of this match... then it is probably going to be bloody as hell.
Oh yeah they are. K62 did a number on my Air Force for sure. If I were playing the Germans the fighter losses would keep me up at night but since I am not Germany this game I am happy with the results :-). K62 has really optimized the bombing for sure. There is a ton of interdiction he did in the South too. I tested this, as Germany, but didn't like the results when I was looking at it but will have to see during the ground phase here if it does have the desired effect when I get there. At the moment just staring at the screen, LOL

Aha. I thought you made ground interdiction. Anyway considering your air results, which are probably №1 in all AARs, I am curious to see ground performance! Should be very interesting game. GL to both of you. But more to an Axis player :P

I know, how about just do it historically. A great many other triggers are done by historical dates, why not just follow that same timeline for the Soviet Guard promotion for sh*ts & giggles. I mean you have SS & other formations that are triggered to go West for no apparent reason in a game other than historical then I feel the Guard creation should be the same. But that is just me thinking out loud on this.
I see you are playing with no enhanced TB control. I thought previously (I could be wrong) that you were pro having it turned on. This would allow you to cancel any transfers you want.

I am for having it turned on (meaning, I am for full TB control). K62 asked for normal. This was my ask when asking for opponent here on the Looking for opponent thread https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5131567
Ah ok. I guess there are those who prefer it off but the flexibility it allows is quite good especially for the Axis.
Leibstandarte, Das Reich and Totenkopf were all transferred (3rd Q 42 approximately) as they were well below strength and were designated to be built into Pz divs.
Two of them did partake in the occupation of Vichy France I believe simply because they were on hand.
If they are in good shape come their historical transfer date it would be convenient not to have them transfer.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeshhhhhhhhhh, finally sent the turn to K62 just about an hour ago. Feels like I gave birth. Hopefully K62 doesn't do another number on me turn 2 Turn 1 was hell, and no pocket failed at all. If you are having issues with leaky pockets then you need lessons from K62. I am selling tickets so get them while they are on sale.
Since we are playing with a delay the updates for turn 1 will come turn 3. I hope I remember that far in the future
