Status: offline 		When I take a look at the combat reports, I'm told the exact hex the fire is originating from? Is this intended?

Yes. I believe in 3D you have animations revealing this information too, while in 2D this report is all you have.

I also noticed that during the enemy turn, the game zooms in and shows rectangles on enemy movements...

Status: offline 		In the same vein, I noticed that hexes with trenches seem to have their concealment and morale modifiers altered. You can see that even if your units are not aware of the trench yet.
