At the moment I am conducting tests, sharing information received in a hurry. In general, tests show the amazing effectiveness of 120mm mortars, they are an order of magnitude better than any heavy Soviet guns in the offensive, in the fields (excluding other terrains and river attacks and any specific conditions). The B-4 203mm howitzers shoot well, they apparently fire only 1 shot per battle, but at the same time they inflict significant losses, their disadvantage is the small number and high cost of their losses and in relation to production, the Br-5 280mm mortars are two times better in numbers than B-4, but if B-4 is 24 pieces per regiment, then Br-5 is only 12 pieces. Also, ML-20 can replace them (which is B-4 and Br-5), but subject to massaging the trunks. Battalions of 12 ML-20s are not effective and lose to mortars that are located directly in ToE divisions, not to mention shelves of 36 120mm mortars. Howitzer regiments are not fish or meat, they are just like an artillery buff and are equivalent to +1 division, but do not give the +CV effect, unlike +1 division. I have a suspicion that the A-19 guns have a slightly greater chance of hitting the German artillery, at least the losses in the German artillery rose, from 1-3 guns to 5-6 guns, besides, it is difficult to judge which guns hit whom like that This is of course on the verge of a random throw of numbers. Soviet art strive for limited performance per battle. For example, mortars consistently fire 10 shots per battle (Apparently the same notorious limitation of Soviet artillery). And that's the point. The German artillery in the number of shots from battle to battle is not the same and the difference is orders of magnitude. From 5 shots per gun to 105 shots. In general, for the time being, I consider the following: regiments of 120m mortars are the elite, ML-20 guns are a workhorse, B-4s are only suitable for the actions of strike units that are not on the defensive, much less retreat (For the sake of reducing their losses, data for firing guns in defense, I don’t have yet). Howitzer regiments (the information is not exhaustive and I’ll look at them later) at the moment they are inferior to the ML-20 in offensive efficiency, apparently they should be sent to close the void of army support. Corps regiments with rare A-19 guns will be slightly more efficient than similar regiments with different guns (On the brink of test errors). Also, at the moment I did not touch the USSR rocket artillery on the BM-13.
