In an resent update there was a fix so that SAM sites could be restricted to fire only into prosecution zones.
Can someone explain how to do this? I can't figure it out.

Hi Guys

IIRC Create a Patrol mission and make sure to uncheck Investigate contacts outside of patrol area. I'm a little fuzzy on this but the text may have changed making it a little fuzzier

That's cool. Now you can divide a space up into sectors. Now if you could only put upper and lower limits on missions as well so we could have altitude blocks.

What kind of mission should you use. I have tried AAW patrol and put the unit on hold, so it wont move around the area, but It doesn't work

Seems ok. Might be a best shown kinda thing. Here's is an example.

Mobile SA-4 (mobile) engages when IL-76 hits the box.

Delete SA-4

Notice same for SA-5 (fixed)

Thanks!

Mike

Hear hear! No more AI taking long-range shots at low-altitude targets which can easily escape below the radar horizon!

Thanks for the example. It works like you described, but when I get some inconsistency when experimenting with it. For example, I ad another aircraft and mark it as hostile it will be engaged outside the zone.

I added the save if you want to have a look

Just checked and confirmed the behavior you saw. I then restarted cleared all targets and everything worked fine. Did you at any point manually or automatically target the second aircraft?

If not best bet is to pursue with the devs in the tech support forum.

Mike

Thanks for this lesson. Trying and that works.
A new bogey will be engaged outside box as soon as ID hostile.
Big change I'm doing something wrong of course. Is it only working when tracks are initiated before adding the mission?
regards GJ

Confirmed. If you add a unit and declare it hostile it'll get shot at regardless of if it is in the zone or not. The first two contacts work fine (assume they were ID'd). Seems like a job for dev
