China

Constant bombing, the terror bombing of Chungking twice so far, back to pounding the ground troops, but with most forts 3 or 4 it isn't very effective. Worse, by far, is the huge heavy artillery along the road west of Changteh, which I notice is 22 hexes from Ledo. Oh my.

Building experience rotating units...you can tell the heavily disrupted units by the load size in comparison to the TOE....

The Chinese Army is still relative strong...just lacks supply. All the read also shows some overstacking...

Prep is kind of odd...I sincerely doubt I have changed the corp with 33 prep on Sian in months and months and months, I do know they have a pitiful 35 experience though.

Just discovered SC cannot be included in bombardment task forces but surface task forces are a go...so that will be some juggling with the slow battleships right prior to and after bombardments.

If I can get established in the Gilberts, I will push further west and build up more bases with fast transports, small xaps, SST, and by flying boat.

Rabaul has not been built up...

Just finished the turn, and August is over...

Marine division should land at Pearl tomorrow unload, switch out of transport mode, and re-embark for the Marcus Invasion. I am not 100% sure I can get the DeathStar there in time...lol.

Shipping is so darn tight. Big liners are carrying troops forward to Christmas, Fanning and Pearl, while everything else is moving them forward...a seemingly endless line, although I guess it only gets worse as the Arsenal of Democracy cranks up.

B24s can hit 24 hexes away from Ledo, and now I have two squadrons of them...thinking some maximum strikes...

All but four slow battleships are moving out...for the Marcus Operation. The Fast BBs (2) are heading forward to support the Gilbert operations.

Should get recon on Darwin today with a bit of luck...perhaps bomb some disbanded ships at Norfolk, perhaps cap trap the IJ bombers over Tabby...hopefully no more torpedo hits (sigh).

Moving forward in what I think is a super aggressive method in the Pacific...definitely not safe.

Buckle-up, gentle reader....we are in for one heck of September!

Looks like a pretty good take, if I can move fast enough!

The minesweepers discovered no mines at either Baker or Tabby. Our leading Port Maint units look to land on our two atolls (capacity 10K for Arorae, 15k for Nikunau).

Looking to grab Beru with the fully prepped Pioneers on APDs...

Although we have basically no HR, I won't fragment units to grab multiple bases but keep them together, so the Marine Paras will reinforce Nikunau, and the 32nd Division will secure Arorae. We have other troops heading for the other atolls...some coming up from Bora Bora and others from Fanning and Christmas and Pearl.

Baker invasion moves closer, and the base is simply being pounded into the dirt daily. Bombardment of Tabby will start today, with ships retiring to Nikunau and awaiting the AKE (enroute). Will only use DD, CA, CL. Warspite is the only heavy here, and she is staying with half of the Deathstar.

North Carolina and South Dakota will arrive at Canton tomorrow and move forward....either Baker or Tabby...not sure which yet.

Fast BB North Carolina is due an upgrade, bulking up her AA this month & new radar, and South Dakota gets one next month. Not long upgrades and certainly highly desirable, but the pace of operations now make it an impossible accomplishment.

No point in pushing this attack until we consolidate and improve the supply situation...shouldn't be too long. Fully prepped with complete HQ command structures.

A few more subs are called...

Will they go for Chungking or head for Kweiyang? Our artillery park wants to know.

Scrolling back thru my recent posts, I noticed my post on the damage to the CVs didn't go thru...will recreate them now but with more pertinent plans.

Since Lady Lex could continue flight operations, and we were only steaming a short distance, the Lex continued with the Death Star...

As so often happens in war, the first reports of catastrophic damage to Enterprise was ciphered/reported incorrectly....she is happily undamaged, if short a few fighters.

I have 20 SC working hard right now....and I don't think I could pull off these operations without them...or without suffering much more. Still need to get some forward to form hunter killer groups...or use my few Clemson DEs in that role.

Yes, O'Bannon shows up before Fletcher herself because the latter is away doing a Tom Hanks movie ...

So, this is the moment I have been waiting for -- the IJA Tank Divisions showing up concentrated in force in China.

I have massed my artillery, flown in Indian Jungle Guns and British 2 pounders, 1 Stuart unit (that withdraws in 44 days lol), haven't been able to free up or upgrade the potent 254th(?) Armor at Lashio, and can't really spare it from the defense of Lashio at present...

But where will the tank divisions go west to the mountains, north to Chungking, or west, north to Chungking?

2 Tank Divisions, concentrated, normally can steam roller the Chinese, but here we have 3! Thank you scen 2 Iron Babes.

Sept 2, 1942

DMS squadron finds mines and Tabby, bombardment group follows up...the storied Cuttlefish.

A relatively rare sub hit...he must be pulling the resources from here -- 2nd thought it is the supply convoy forced away from Tabby.

Diego Garcia up next on the IJN conquest schedule......hmm.

Seems like Japan is in no hurry to get their CVs back to the Pacific. Fine by me. Dispatching a full division to Socotra, plus the CD guns meant for Diego.

Huge map, you can always use the zoom out function of your browser. On my browser it is control (plus) mousewheel. Doesn't show all the task forces coming up from Bora Bora, Tahiti, Malden, etc.

Too much stuff to put on...will have solid Naval control of the Gilberts, 8th Port Maint unit landing at Arorae, PT boats almost present, 3rd Port Maint unit should land at Nikunau, Beru invasion tomorrow, 3 days probably for the Baker Island invasion...

3rd Marine getting out of transport mode at Pearl, will load for Marcus Island with the rest of the troops when they are done. Slow battleships making for Midway area, more than halfway there. Fast Battleships at Canton, I think they might bombard Baker...maybe not. Those big guns really eat the supply...probably they should go to join the fleet carriers.

Will bombard Tabby again, I have 2 regiments enroute for the invasion there plus support troops, will most likely land somewhere closer and rest for a couple of days before invading there so I can really bombard it.

I think this is a messed up game...as I don't understand it. It is fun, entertaining, but it seems to me Japan is fundamentally being played to goals that I cannot fathom. Normally I never, ever read an enemy's AAR after the game is over, but here I am darn curious as to what is going thru Japanese High Command decision making process.

Forum is acting up on me, have to post pictures twice as the first time it default to an attachment for some odd reason and the only fix is to edit, delete the image and the upload it a 2nd time.

Tried two different browsers. Frustrating.

I do not believe there is a decision making process at Japanese high command They proved it long ago with constant shock attacks even when taking colossal losses and committing to invade 2 large continents without enough troops to accomplish either goal. Really feels Japanese high command is just winging it and see where the winds take them.

I honestly expect this game to end at 44 latest , Hokkaido is open to invasion with KB constantly lurking on the western portion of the map

Japan is reinforcing here....was 9 units scant days ago.

My supply situation is super tenuous...so will pull back a bit and let it improve. Nice to see a build up of troops here.

Isn't the Pacific far more important than Darwin? I might eventually be able to hit some small oil fields from Darwin...but it poses no threat for a long time. Losing the Gilberts, the Marshalls does however.
