The rain mechanic is just wrong IMHO. It doesn't rain for a month straight anywhere (with possible exception of places like Ketchikan or Mawsynram).

I've seen too many games decided by rain in France or UK. I could see air efficiency dropping in winter months but going to zero makes no sense.

Agree. Something like

Rain reduces AP and attack values by 50%
And snow by 75%

Should work

I wholeheartedly agree. In a recent game the IJN was attacked by the combined UK & USA fleets. Not good in itself. But the real disaster was that in the next turn the entire Allied Fleet was covered by a cloak of invulnerability - AKA Rain & Storms at Sea - that stopped any airborne counter attack. In the Allied turn they all just sailed away apart from 1 unfortunate Light Cruiser. It was a complete game changer. Weather is too extreme in its effects.

Please change it.

During the Rain/Snow, air power range should also be reduced.
Spotting most certainly should be reduced.
Damage should be reduced.
Could add some attrition/morale damage to the flying unit.

Weather needs to be a factor. Just how, on a two-week cycle in WaW or a variable cycle in WiE, is hard. Agree that it is really hard for one side to have clear weather and then the other not. On the other hand, this does and did happen in real war. Can anyone give an example where the weather was a crucial factor? Winter 41/42 for both sides in WiE. An example where it was good for one side and then changed to be bad for the other?

We can agree the weather situation is unrealistic but what is the solution:
1. Keep the same and live with it. Has been the method for years now.
2. Do away with weather ground, sea, and/or air. This would really change both games.
3. Have people suggest solutions on this thread. Then beta test one or two alternatives based on gamer votes with Matrix having a 51% say.

I recommend keeping 1 until 3 can be implemented and a possibly better method is tested/chosen.

I suspect a major change in weather, as well as improved Naval warfare, is in the works for Strategic Command WiE/WaW IV.

*Might as well toss into the conversation, the of Sandstorms in North Africa & Holy Lands. Is it realistic? Maybe, ask the Flight of the Phoenix.

If you want the plane to be fixed, better give the water to the Bunta Boy.

I think Earlydoors is on the right track on this, with a reduction on Air units attack values and action points in bad weather.

The worse the weather the greater the reduction and effectiveness of air units.

Check out Warshipbuilders "On This Day" thread in the BoB/BtR Forum.

It is a daily account of different RAF squadrons official war diaries, and really shows how the weather impacted on them.

IE clear weather on take off, cloud/rain/fog on target and the reduction in hitting the target.

I also think patchy rain is a potential solution too

So a range of hexes could have 'patchy rain/showers' which would render as some hexes having rain and some being clear

If your aircraft have a clear hex and can find a target in another clear hex then good luck to you

It alrready works this way. Are you suggesting more clear hexes then?
