I messed up on the ground so starting bombing the port - read that it was not thet effective but I thought I would give it a go - clear turns winter 41 /42

The results are extremely variable one time I got 7 damage, 0 then 44. anyway after 3 turns I destroyed the level 5 ( 100% damage) port there.

Does that mean they are isolated?

You'll need Naval Interdiction to complete the isolation.

Ok noted - you would think a 100% damaged port would be the same :)

Yes, a 100% damaged port will isolate the hex. However, you don't really know if it has 100% damage because of Fog of War. You are safest to use a Naval Patrol directive to interdict the port.

I had to test this out. I thought at first carlkay58 might be mistaken, but it turned out that I learned something new. Naval is the way to go. It took me 5 turns with 200+ bombers to actually put a level 1 port into isolation. I couldn't find anything about a fully damaged port in the manual. I may have overlooked it somewhere.

So, I thank you for the new info carlkay58. I normally bomb ports that I'm taking by hitting the port and reducing supplies. I mislead myself into thinking that 100% port damage did not isolate since in all the scenarios I've played and bombed ports I never once saw it isolated. Now I know why, and it takes some effort to get 100% port damage and FOG is working.

I have the latest patch, and flak losses were light since I was playing a scenario and not a GC or StB. I have noticed that the larger your bombing formations, the more flak losses you get, and I was bombing from 23000ft to avoid the lighter flak.
