Supply Turn 13

The Army is still doing well but again its dropping lower for the Air force, still seem to be doing something wrong here even with GS support off.

OB Turn 13

So far i have only replaced one commander as i have been using my AP for rebuilding rail depots and creating supply depots and also some forts.

The numbers are still good and Russians are just keeping there heads above 2.5 million.

You have very good supply delivery in comparison to requests. What supply priority are you using for your units?

I am also spending AP on depots as the highest priority, but by turn 13 I replace more than 1 commander.
Do you know that political rating of the leader in head HQ also affects price (in AP) for replacing leaders in HQ that are under command.

For example if you want to reduce cost of replacing some leader - you can attach his HQ to somebody with high political rating, like army group Antonescu, who has 9 in political rating. Then replace that guy with less AP and on the next turn move new leader again to a previous head HQ.

It might save some AP.

Also you start building fortifications on t13 already? Isn't it to early?

Hi

What I found this game to be working well is not only building and spacing my depots out better, usually I was over saturating buy building to many and having clusters all over the place.

This time I am doing the regulation 5 spaces apart ( more or less ), as for supply priority I have gone to level 4 for all German, now this could work out to be a disaster during the winter months, we shall see.

Also I am actually using AP to repair Rail heads and Ports some thing I picked on from other players from the forum, most suggest to repair level 2 rail heads but I have been just throwing AP ( Constuct Units ) on any Rial head with over 50 % damage, again this could back fire during the winter for doing this and not replacing bad commanders.

(Do you know that political rating of the leader in head HQ also affects price (in AP) for replacing leaders in HQ that are under command )

Thanks for the heads up on the details for this I kind of had a idea of this vaguely reading about it in the manual, but i have not really read the book in detail as of yet, but your easy explanation helped a lot

I will look at it more closely as it gets closer to winter.

( Also you start building fortifications on t13 already? Isn't it to early? )

Is it to early for forts " yeah Kind of " but I have not gone to crazy, places like Novgorod,Staraya Russia, Kronstadt, these places in the North I will fortify, I may be playing against the AI but i have had times where its got behind me and been almost forces to fall back from Leningrad because of cut / threatened supply lines.

Also some of the some of the victory cities that i feel the AI might break through to likes of Rzhev, Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye just to cover all bases, there are few other places.

Yeah I know I'm playing against the AI, I still got a lot to learn even playing against it, so i am not going to let it take my hard earned captured territory.

Good luck with games

cheers

wow
Can you show your vehicles losses? Key "L" on keyboard.

It never worked out for me. Mobile forces waste way too many trucks in my case, and have fewer MP because of such high priority.

you might save a few AP but you will pick up a massive hit on your admin values with that sort of radical re-assignment, if the formation is out of combat for 2-3 turns maybe worth it but otherwise its quite a trade off

Yep. That is why I do it in a quite sectors. Typically not more than 1 HQ per turn.

Also Antonescu was given as an example, and he is pretty bad in every other aspect, as a leader.
There are some German armies with a good, in terms of political rating, leaders:
4th army, von Kluge - 9 political rating
16, Busch - 8
2, Weichs - 7
6, Reichenau - 8
17, Pfeiffer - 8

But some leaders have terrible political rating like 4th pazner army, Hoepner, has 2. (at least in my game, maybe he degraded to such low value)

So it is pretty costly to replace leaders under his command. And it is assault army, and players want to fill capacity points as much as possible. And it is worth to replace leader of a HQ before assigning that HQ to that 4th panzer army.

Yeah its not good nearly 37 thousand, I may have to reduce my supply Priority levels on Armee, INF Korps and MTN Korps.

When I started my playing my first few games it was Armee HQ 2 INF / MTN HQ 3 and Pz HQ 4.

But is was finding supply at Armee level was always low, so in the end I just gave German units high priority and the rest of the Axis Allies were left at whatever was in the original starting setup.

cheers

AG North Turn 14

The Oranienbaum Fortress is taking and 4th Pz cuts the land link to the rest of Russia.

I need to start to reduce the defenders and move onto the Ports on the Lake.

Further south the Russians rush troops to block 15th Armee's push.

9th Armee continues to aid 3rd Pz on its drive towards Moscow.

AG Centre Turn 14

Both Pz Armee's continue to push forward netting more enemy troops in Pockets, I am getting closer to Moscow and orel.

The AI has thrown up a line of Forts in front of the capital, but other than that there are but units in front of us at this time.

I will have to slow down soon and rest some troops for the coming winter.

AG South Turn 14

The second river city is taken I have crossed the sudden death thresh hold, now I will try to take Sevastopol and take as much territory as i can.

11th Armee breaks through the defenders line in The Crimea, I also want to see if I can get to and cross the Kerch Straits and hold there as long as I can.

The AI for now seems to be concentrating a lot of forces in the South, which has its good and bad points for me, namely less troops guarding Moscow but also tying down and slowing my drive to Rostov.

This turn we are still doing well in both commands, I just have this feeling though once the weather gets bad and my rail links way behind the troops its going to fall off a cliff.

Still great figures with these continual pockets and Russian unit surrendering.

Currently I am still under 1 thousand AFV losses, happy about that.

Russian forces at this time still just holding around the 2.5 million mark.

They don't even have 2000 operational AFV's, that is good.

Despite the bad weather I am continuing to reduce the Leningrad defence perimeter and also push towards the lake ports.

Its slow going for 16th Armee moving across the Hills.

On the Moscow Front 9th Armee continues to support 3rd Pz facing the Russian defences there.

Orel is encircled as begin the process of eliminating the trapped troops.

Edging closer to Moscow here despite the AI's stubborn resistance.

I think this will be the first time I have captured Orel in a game in 1941.

Destroyed the pockets trapped against the river bank, Stalino is close and I could take it for the first time also in 1941.

Capturing it could happen stopping the AI form retaking it and getting a bonus is another thing all together.

A break through in the Crimea and my units surge into the peninsula.

Under 2.5 Million, its been a great opening so far but its all illusion once STAVKA releases that 500,000 men sitting in reserve and the OKW withdraws our DIV's to the West.

Slow going here now as the terrain is not ideal for Armoured and mechanised forces, its basically a 1 hex move at the moment.

16th Armee is having the same issues as is 9th down on the Moscow front.

Still do well here and pushing the Soviets back and in a position to capture Kursk another first for 1941, I'm on a roll here.

The AI is constructing more forts in front of Moscow, which is fine i never intended to try to take the City in 1941, just get as close as I could then dig in.

I would however like to dent in those forts before i go on a total defence posture.

Despite the weather turning bad down here also I have launched more attacks and pocketed more troops.

In the Crimea I'm racing to capture the ports before turning towards Sevastopol.

Don't want the AI to launch sea landings

With my supply well and truly in the red it will be a snails pace crawl from now on.

Well still inflicted over the 100 thousand mark in casualties against the Russians so its not all that bad.

I think losses will get less and less from here on end.

you've done well on the Soviet numbers, both what it has to hand and the losses inflicted

should minimise the impact of the winter, it'll take them to Jan to bring that 500k into real action so you should get over the worst with a manpower advantage?
