Ok folks, I've searched the manual and the threads but I don't seem to be getting anywhere. What is the current impact of training command (including the latest upgrades to the game)? How many pilots do you need to place in Training Command in order to impact the training pipeline of pilots? Do fighter pilots within that command only impact the fighter pilot training areas (such as Def, etc.)? The manual seems to only mention that pilots who are eligible to transfer there are in yellow (skills at 80+).

Hello Dr H.,

I don't recall we've every gotten a definitive answer on this from developers and have not done a sandbox test myself. So...my understanding and how I play is:

- Takes 10 in TRACOM to make an impact (increase new recruit training values when they initially come out as replacements). Some speculation as to if more blocks of 10 help (e.g. 20, 30, etc)
- In my playing I do try to get a minimum of 10 for each type. Not huge effort for American but Japanese and other Allied will struggle to get this done.

I use TRACOM as both a (potential) boost for replacements and a holding pen for highly experienced pilots. Not unusual when I play allied to have +100 pilots here or dozens when playing as IJ. I realize they don't train while in the "pen" but typically they're not there (outside the core 10-20) for too long before reinforcing a front line high priority effort or seeding a squadron headed to the front lines. I've played in this manner across all versions and betas. Works for me.

Game On. Kevin

Greetings Kevin, thanks for taking the time to respond. Do you recall where you got the idea of 10 pilots minimum or in groups of 10? I never thought about nationality (given that I'm playing Japan, that issue doesn't arise!). I wonder if that would be too difficult to code, but it makes sense. Hal

There were a number of posts on this over the years. See; https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2260137. This link is an older FAQ (with references pointing to supporting posts, often by developers), section 16.3 discusses your question(s). There were many other posts on this topic, my distinct recollection is they were all focused on the "10" value for TRACOM as either the minimum or the base (10, 20, 30...) number. Personally I very much enjoy the pilot training game with the game. Your questions touch on one of many areas in Pilot Training I hope someday to get around to doing a sandbox test on to validate various theories and assumptions we players have floated on this topic since AEs release! One day...sigh.
