Hello fellow gamers ! Campaign Watcher is a tool to keep track of the development of the coreforce over the course of a campaign. CW analyzes differences between saves and presents them in the form of a sortable datasheet with changes highlighted. For a number of statistics there are also graphs available. You can download CW and get more info here [ July 20, 2001: Message edited by: headhunter ]

What an original idea. I think I will try it. should I download it into the SPWAW directory?

Folks, this is one cool chunk of software :) It adds an extra element of role-playing depth to the game. You can follow all of the important stats of your core units in a campaign - you really get to know your leaders, following their progress, see how they develop from battle to battle. And here's the really good bit: the graphs! Average/minimum/maximum experience, rank and unit type compositions, kills, speed, cost, and more! In short: if you play campaigns, you want this :) ... Drex, you can put this anywhere. When you first run it, you'll have to select and set the default save directory. After that, it won't care where it is. A_B, it is really cool! Don't wait for your next campaign, instead try a quick, small generated one. bobaloo000, as far as I know, it should work with a Mega Campaign - it works by analysing your game saves. Although I haven't tried this yet. headhunter, nice work! Disclaimer: I helped test this, and have since developed quite a liking for it. My opinions may be a little biased ;)

Very kind words from you, ectizen, thank you ! :) Drexx: As ectizen already answered, install it anywhere you like. A_B: Or, if you still have some saves from an old campaign around, you could use these for a first look. bobaloo000: Good question. Do the units in the MC carry over from one battle to the next, or do you start each battle with different forces ? I would be interested in hearing from MC players if/how CW does work with MC saves.

This is an oustanding program. Since the original SP I keept a hand written record on a spread sheet. With Sp2 that became just two much work with so many units. SPWAW was way over the top keeping track. This program does all the difficult, time consuming stuff! Great idea! Great program! Great SPWAW community!

I downloaded and installed Campaign Watcher. When I try to point it to my MegaCAM\Save folder the program does not recognize any of the files as being valid. It appears that it is looking for *.cmt files and my MegaCam/Save folder only has *.cam, *.rec and *.mig files. Campaign Watcher works fine if I point to the SPWAW Save folder. Any work arounds available?

For those of with slow phone connections or just plain slow ISP: Campaign Watcher is a compact zip file of 277K size, it downloaded smoothly for me. Too often this information is not given and it does make a difference for us gamers who don't have or can't get a fast connection. I'll be using CW for the generated campaign I'm starting today - I haven't installed CW yet, but hope the data can be exported to Excel, if not in xls format, then in CSV form. Even if that isn't the case, CW looks terrific, I will definitely use it, thanks to everyone involved with the creation and testing. The Panthers continue to be the best gaming group I've been around. And I've been around. Bing

Well, well, Headhunter! You've outdone yourself. Between you, ECtizen and all the SPWAW support sites, man, we got a thing going on! I have downloaded your program and will definitely give it a try tonight. Thanks so much. Wild Bill

SAMWolf, I've just had a look at how the MC saves work. As it stands, I don't think a practical workaround for this exists. I've mailed my observations to headhunter. Hopefully he'll be able to give a more authoratative answer. This was my first look at starting the MC: Oh my! I see I'm in for something special!

Thanks, headhunter! This is just what I needed to follow the development of Kampfgruppe Erwin through the long campaign. Maybe this should be included in the SPWaW package in future editions.

Guys, thanks for you kind words ! :D AC: In fact, I saw your request back then, and it inspired me to write CW. :) SAMWolf: I tried to email you on the issue of MC but got a 'user unknown' response. Bing : I will add the size info to the download page. At the moment, exporting to excel is not possible. I'll look into the MC issue.

Exporting in CSV form would do it, and possibly save a lot of work. But it is not really critical, either. CW does a fine job all on its own. Thanks much, Bing

Hi Headhunter. I tried to use CW with Mega-Campaign but it doesn't seem to work . I will use with a regular campaign.

Exporting would be solved rather easily if we could copy to the Clipboard. I tried but it doesn't work. Pasting the values into Excel or any spreadsheet oought to be pretty easy, if Copy is enabled. Something to think about for next version. Bing

CSV exporting to clipboard will be in next version. I need some megacampaign saves to figure out how the MC differs from the generated campaign ! If anyone is willing to help, please send me the *.cam and *.sav files from two or three consecutive battles.

Hi all, YES Campaign Watcher does work with the MC!!! HOWEVER, you have to do some file renaming. As SAMwolf mentioned CW recognises the file extentions *.cmt, *.dat but that the MC uses the extensions *.cam, *.sav. All you have to do is change the extentions of the MC files from *.cam to *.cmt and from *.sav to *.dat and it will work I copy and paste the MC save files (ignore the *.rec file)into a campaign watcher save folder and then rename these as per above and...TADA, bob's your uncle! regards

>CSV exporting to clipboard will be in next version. < Super!! Let us know when it is ready, I would like to be one of the first to d/l the update. I was going to suggest renaming the MC files, good to see someone has done that and it does work. I thought it would work. Thanks again for a fine addition to the SPW@W helper applications. Bing
