Another bad dday for the allies - Herbie-san is moving his level bomber force around and they again strike GG.
My Carrier force will make the straits of GG tonight but they have no targets - it is the level bombers that are causing the problems.

Again the Beeties attack - this time from Gasmate. My Warhawks and Wirriways are not up to the task of holding back an excorted bombing raid. the reported damage is not as it appears however as only one of the transport ships is in trouble (and has to start unloading) the other is fine and the third was actually another of my hapless MSWs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Buna

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 16035 troops, 284 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 16574 troops, 128 guns, 52 vehicles

Japanese ground losses:
Men lost 3

Allied ground losses:
Men lost 19

Herbie-sans ground forces are actually in a far better way than they first appeared - with no attacks they have managed to claw back a bit of functionality. My lack of attention from bomber boys the main reason for this.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Buna

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 13918 troops, 128 guns, 0 vehicles

Defending force 23141 troops, 330 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese ground losses:
Men lost 26

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I need the additional units to hit Buna and I need it to happen yesterday. The continuing pressure Herbie-san is putting on my transport ships - loading in the combat zone, is enough to make me wonder if I can pull this off!
The AP TF at Cairns is loading the New Guinea Division (or that which has recuperated after escaping), with them I will attack PM. I don't know if a retreating unit will move to a hex that is under attack or not. At a pinch these guys can also attack Buna.
I get the twin BB surface force in 3 days (Washington and North Dakota) - they are the first surface units I have had in quite some time and are sorely needed.
Tonight I have chosen Lae to recieve an airfield pounding. Recon shows there are bombers there and my guess is he will move his planes here. Both GG and DBD send their bomber forces.
